Lost

She followed her mother everywhere

She always followed the rule

Don’t leave my site sweetie

For the world can be cruel

At five years old

Something catches her eye

She turns away from her mother

Soon loses her sight

At fourteen years old

She rides with a stranger

Just a teen living life

Unaware of the danger

At eighteen years old

She loses her dad

No one to guide her

She gets very sad.

At 32 years old

She still fights off demons

But without those trials

There would have been no lessons

She still gets lost

And loses her way

But learns to find herself

Again every day

When she grows old

Her hair tipped with gray frost

She thanks the universe

For the lessons of lost.
