The Ice Queen

Ice is complex, you know

Most of it, isn't clear at all

If you look closely, you can see

endless little, if not designs

fractures

for the moment perfectly safe

secured in the cold

The occasional

tiny air bubble trapped

When it breaks, I wonder

will you feel that tiny

little breath being released?

I hid it from you

but that's what I did

after our third date.

Ice is so strong

Even when you step

on the thin covering of a frozen puddle

and it breaks

it cracks into those shards

that look like knives

They refuse to drown

instead float away.

Like I did when you suggested

we move in together

They won't lose their edge

until they come into contact with heat

and melt

Like I do now in your arms.
