A soliloquy to my homeland

Oh Philippines, land of beauty and wonder,

How I long to call you my home forever.

The sun may beat down on your sandy shores,

But your warmth and light are what I adore.

The lush greens of your mountains and fields,

The vibrant colors of your fruits and yields,

The kindness of your people, ever-smiling,

All make my heart feel like it's worth the while.

But alas, my dear Philippines, you are not without pain.

Poverty and corruption linger like a stain.

And though I love you, I cannot ignore

The struggles that your people face evermore.

But I will not give up hope, for I know

That together we can make this land grow.

I'll fight for change and work towards a brighter day,

For in the Philippines, I want to stay.

So here I stand, proud and true,

With love in my heart for the Philippines and you.
