As I lie on the canvas, bloodied and bruised from my opponent, my favorite childhood song, "Ask Me in December," beckons to me from the old victrola in the corner of my heart, telling me to get up and duel once more. It's lyrics immediately breathe renewed hope and life into my spirit while successfully ignoring my pleas to retreat into the corner so that I may tend to my broken heart and badly rug-burned praying-knees.

It ended like every other stupid idea. Badly, and alone. Iโm researching digital confession ethics, he said. A tech ethicist. He gestured at floating data I couldnโt see then pulled out a physical notebook. Actual paper, fountain pen. He held it up like he was showing me scripture.

I love the nod to the The King of Pop, I am a fan. You had me, my eyes widened at โDirty Dianaโ. Such powerful acrostic, so powerful itโs able to wake the dead and lift the spirit. I love the spicy spirit in this too, that Dirty Diana Determination works so well. When a woman hone in on the 3 Dโs sheโs unstoppable.
