Owning Your Name, Owning Yourself

Love it — it’s all yours.

Sure, it’s shared by many,

but no one has ever been you.

“Unique” doesn’t exactly exist,

because nothing new happens under the sun.

But place your fingerprints on anything,

and it becomes yours —

if you believe it so.

Engrave yourself

on every inch of the earth,

whether your feet touched it or not.

Let who you are mean greatness,

even if it’s doubted.

The world spins with or without you —

so the thought of inferiority is laughable.

Fear and limitation

only live in your shell,

and that shell can be both

your comfort and your strength.

When you stop binding yourself

to an earth you do not own,

you’ll realize you’ve had wings

this whole time.

That’s when unique truly exists.
