Procrastination

Thief of time, or handy ally. The unnecessary line.

"Seriously - I never procrastinate". Said while seriously peering here and there - hoping the Karma of procrastination is not listening.

Procrastination

Postponing today’s tasks until tomorrow,

convincing ourselves that we’re just “marinating” our productivity.

The Morning Muse in me

Arises from my bed, Intentions ablaze, dreams dancing in my head.

I’ll conquer the world, or at least my inbox, But first, a quick scroll--just a tiny detour, methinks.

Then that Siren Call of Distraction whispers,

“Come hither, my friend. Why work now when memes await around the bend? Your to-do list can wait; there’s cat videos to see, And conspiracy theories - oh, the taste of sweet mystery!”

I sit at my desk fingers poised for creation. Yet my mind pirouettes toward sweet temptation. The laundry beckons, a mountain of smelly things. And that book I mean to write but been ignoring. It’s giving me pleading looks.

Still - Procrastination beckons.

“Why rush, my dear soul? The deadline’s a distant speck on the horizon’s scroll. Let’s rearrange bookshelves or alphabetize spices - Or ponder life’s mysteries - like why socks have no toes.”

I Rationalize, as I brew another coffee, my muse now caffeinated. And I justify delay with logic: “Productivity thrives in the eleventh hour - and stress sharpens wit...it's the procrastinator’s power.”

The Twilight Hour arrives, and Sunset paints the room in hues of gold and pink, And I’ve mastered the art of creative brink.

My masterpiece? Still a blank canvas, alas, But my Pinterest boards? Magnificently vast.

Procrastination smiles--For deadlines are mere suggestions--thin air we spin. The world’s greatest novels were penned in haste, Between snack breaks and naps".

Outro--where is my outro . I promise myself:

“Tomorrow, I’ll rock!” But as the moon chuckles and stars twinkle bright, I fear I might forever be postponing the fight.

Remember, procrastination isn’t just a foe - it’s a quirky companion on life’s chaotic journey. So go ahead, embrace it (but maybe finish that report first). 🕰️

P.S. This poem was composed during a brief procrastination break. The irony is delicious. 📝

Feel free to share your own procrastination tales--I promise I won’t put off reading them! 😄

This is entirely relatable! Memes devour a significant chunk of my life. And who can resist an amusing cat video? ⚡💙Bill⚡

Over the years, I've learned that 99% of our creative babies will be born at the right time. Sometimes it's necessary to take a procrastination break! Lol I must confess that 11th hour essays born of procrastination & adrenaline were birthed by me all throughout college! lol I so related with this piece! What a charming read!

Right! You never procrastinate...I get that loud and clear. Ha ha. I am doing that a lot these days. So I am on board with this. Wake up lazy brains, lots to be done.

Honestly, I believe that we all do this from time to time. Good job.
