Shroud
An entry for Savvy Savannah's (Unofficial) September Challenge
Athena weaving colored threads of war and peace
could not decide which thread should be the victor
and so the conflict raged unceasingly
until blood turned dark upon the land
and faces blanched, with horror turned
from shroud she formed, misshapen
and bordered red around
who saw it trembled,
fearing to praise
handiwork
of Death’s
clothes

Beautifully woven verse which the picture attracted me to verse. Fascinating goddess. Bringer of War and Peace, champion of mortals, she also gave humanity the yoke and the plough, not to mention justice.
So sorry it took a while to get to this, I needed to deal with some home stuff and be in the right mindset to give full attention to your words... and gosh! Am I glad I did! This was so amazing! The feeling of the poem itself being weaved together and the imagery of war and peace was fantastic! Thank you so much for entering my little challenge!
The love the way you incorporated the weaving into this one!
Wow, gorgeous work!
