A Mother's Day Poem For My Mum
Introduction
It is Mother's Day in the uK today.
I have never done this before and I thought it was about time I did. My mum died of a heart attack and stroke over thirty-five years ago, and she is with me every day. I have included one of her favourite songs ("Happy" by The Carpenters) in this and written this sonnet.
Maybe others will like it and maybe it will pertain to them.
When we lose someone we love they are always with us in our hearts.

Better Alone than Exhausted
"Iโd Rather Be Alone and Quiet Than Tired of Being with Someone Else" We aren't afraid of loneliness; we are afraid of entrusting ourselves to someone who doesn't appreciate us. At certain stages of life, what matters more than mere companionship is the feeling of comfortable peace. If a relationship requires you to constantly suppress your needs, pretend everything is fine, and work tirelessly to please someone else just to receive a spark of positive energy, then you are better off alone.

Lately, I'm empty
Lately, I feel an emptiness inside of me that doesnโt make any sense. I was fine a week ago and now Iโm numb to the pain that Iโve been carrying around. Numb to the idea of me existing. I wish I could go to a place where I can hear happy positive thoughts and surround myself with joy. The medication Iโm on doesnโt seem to work anymore. I still feel pain from existing, why am I here anyways? Merely to exist. I donโt feel like Iโm making any differences being here.

A lovely tribute to your Mum, Mike. She would be very proud of your efforts as she looks down on you every day and in every way. My mum is 93, and I am not sure how much longer she will be around. I dread the day.
