The Hardest Part

The Wait

Inspired by the 24-hour posting time of my latest short story.

********************************

The draft has been submitted

Now the wait has begun

But you are committed

Until everything is done

*

Five minutes seems like sixty.

An hour seems like five.

Time moves so slow you get misty.

Almost forgetting you're alive.

*

Even when a whole twenty-four goes by

You just need to remind yourself

Then you’ll just need to remember why

And be yourself

*

So don’t take things personally.

Everyone goes through it.

Just go along impersonally.

Quit chomping at the bit.

*

It’ll be accepted soon.

Then you can be happy.

Because it’ll be a great boon

To make you all sappy.

Relatable AF. I’m always triggering whatever system they have in play with my naughty words.
