He sits alone by the old front door,
Waiting for steps he hears no more.
His tail is still, his eyes are low,
Missing the love he used to know.
""
The bowl is full, but he won’t eat,
No happy jumps, no moving feet.
He looks around, then softly sighs,
A quiet tear in patient eyes.
""
Once he ran in the morning sun,
Chasing joy till the day was done.
Now shadows follow where he stays,
Counting slow and lonely days.
""
He listens close to every sound,
Hoping his friend will come around.
Each passing car, each opening gate,
Teaches his heart to learn to wait.
""
Still, he stays loyal, brave, and true,
With all his love saved just for you.
A sad dog’s heart may break apart,
But hope still sleeps inside his heart.
