It didn't start with a "shot heard 'round the world."
There won't be a beautiful flag of unity unfurled.
Revolution seems a thing of the past.
Our 'progress' is sliding downhill fast.
Cultists have issued a hostile takeover-
Giving America a cruel and ugly makeover.
Hatred and division remain the same.
While the rich get fat, the working class is shamed.
It started with a simple lie, and then another.
Discord is sown to make us turn on our brothers.
Faith has turned into a bloodthirsty cult.
Jesus is a sad, soggy, hate-fueled scapegoat.
The loud cacophony of misled sheep.
While those profiting from harm don't make a peep.
Democrats are putting on a cute little show,
Court hearings, cameras, and a line they are pretending to tow.
And yet not a single white criminal has landed in cuffs.
With all the evidence presented, justice is a BLUFF.
No, this Civil War does not *yet* have fields soaked in blood.
And only the hate-filled side is allowed to use guns.
While the rest of us warriors have to protest in peace.
Our nation once again shattered and fragmented by greed.
But hate is short-lived, and it will quickly run out of steam.
When their bullets have run out, and the money is gone -
Only then will we put bullets in our guns.
And when we shoot them it will ring out confetti.
Unlike modern-day cultist Nazis, OUR weapon is love.
Because violence is stupid, and stupid is as stupid does.
And forgiving the hate-filled cultists is easier said than done.
Maybe if we lead by example and rein in our fractured hate -
We might yet be able to alter America's blood-stained fate.

I love how you juxtapose the harsh realities of division with the idea that love is still a weapon. It’s both sobering and inspiring.
This is so heartbreaking, especially because it's all true 🥺🥺🥺
Tragedy, honesty, reality, and hope - this poem has it all. Desperately hoping that we might yet be able to alter America's blood-stained fate, too...thank you for sharing this remarkable piece, Hope!
