Through her eyes

Her way

By Gregory AndersonPublished about 11 hours ago Updated about 7 hours ago 1 min read

So much she has seen

So much that she knows

Her stories at times makes the tears flow

As a child wanting more

Being told you can’t walk through that door

Like a vessel she carry’s dreams and hopes for the ones she loves

At times I can hear her sighs

I can see it all through her eyes

Broken and still she keeps on giving

She says the good lord blesses all who are living

He makes his sun shine upon the wicked and the just

Knowing one day we will all return to dust

Holding her hand there was so much to be seen

Love like a blanket wrapped around me

Wondering why some things must be

Thinking what makes you so different than me

Love more powerful than anyone knows

It is the thread of this life and we are the machine from which it sews

Through her eyes you can see generational ties

For the dreams that rise and the dreams that fall

With grace and humility she has seen them all

From the field to a family of her own

She fought against racism to keep them strong

Handed down from generation to generation

She believed every soul is worth saving

Learning to see through her eyes

A blessing that helped to comfort some tears and sighs

A matriarchs role no matter the weather strengthen and hold the family together

She was a spark to ignite some dreams

Through her eyes there was so much it seems

Stream of Consciousnesssurreal poetry
