To the One Who Wanders.

A Letter from the One Who Stays (Mostly).

By TestPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

They say the world is wide —
to chase the horizon,
to live for the thrill
of unfamiliar skies.

And you, love,
you believe that.
Your eyes light up at the word adventure,
your heart pulls toward places
we’ve never been.

I’ve wondered why.
Why trade our bed
for sheets warmed by strangers?
Why wrap yourself in towels
that whisper other people’s mornings?
Why fly in cabins filled
with a thousand passing breaths?

I’ve never needed that kind of escape.
The world, to me,
unfolds slowly —
in quiet rooms,
in morning routines,
in the comfort of known things.

But loving you
means loving the way you wander.

So yes,
I’ll go with you —
once or twice, maybe more.
I’ll walk beside you
down unfamiliar streets,
even as part of me longs
for the roads we know.

And when your feet ache
for mountains or oceans,
take them.
Chase them.

I’ll be here —
in the soft light of home,
saving a seat beside me
for your stories.

Because love doesn’t always mean
walking the same path.
Sometimes,
it means holding the door open
for someone else’s adventure
and still being there
when they return.
