Today Tomorrow Yesterday

A Poem Regarding the Passage of Time

By Danni GreerPublished 9 years ago 1 min read

Today is a gift, or that’s what they say.

I for one, won’t let it get away.

I need the time

to learn

to grow

to write and read.

Yesterdays’ the past

something quickly forgotten.

It’s full of mistakes

and lost hope

and failures

and procrastination.

Tomorrow is unknown.

How can we know

what we need

or want

or forgot

or lost

or grew?

Time is a curse placed on all of us.

It gives us hope

but takes it away just as quickly.

Time is a thief,

a gift,

a fact.

Time, cursed or not, is ours for the taking, giving, or using.
