Tumultuous, Slow and Steady

a sonnet

By Michele NampalliPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Silently, I wait for the thundering waves to ease

Looking past to the soft spot between the sky and sea

A shape blurring, collapsed bone, asking to be set free

Heartbeat tuned in, melded ship bows reaching overseas

Cast out to harbor on the shores of pirates

Looted ruby pomegranate cut open, bleeding crimson

Warmed ache spreading deep into a fleeting season

Hope cast on stilled sails, weary and delicate

Reflected in presence, disguised as care held up by boredom

Swells of a storm brewing, set on a layer dusted in rosy sight

Breaking like shards of shooting stars weary of sunlight

I collect at twilight to scatter in dawn’s freedom.

Its dew - wrapped in blades of breaths, catch and release

Breaking you apart in a calm sea, no longer my centerpiece.

About the Creator

Michele Nampalli

This space is breath for my sensitivity. The poems come fully formed. I've known for quite some time now that my art is about receiving more than creation...its the most natural way I know to process my inner world. It started when I was 7.
