You

I love you

I was not prepared

For you to take

My breath away

I thought it was just

The excitement of

The day’s events

And then I saw

Your glorious smile

My heart kicked into

Overdrive, making my

Knees shake and buckle

Making my palms

Slick with sweat

It’s become difficult

To focus on anything

Except for you

And just when I think

I’m going to faint

You ask to move

A strand of my hair

That small, insignificant

Brushing of your fingers

Across my cheek

Lit my soul on fire

And calmed my racing heart

All at once

Your laugh at my

Blushing cheeks was

The most beautiful thing

I had ever heard

Like silk sliding

Over my skin

You don’t know this

But I watched you

The entire time

The way you chewed

On your lip when

You were concentrating

The way your hands

Cradled your camera

So gently, so sure and

I knew that I wanted

To be touched by you

Held by you, for

The rest of my life

I knew I wanted to

Hear your laugh when

I was having a bad day

To hear your voice

Every morning I was able

To feel how soft

Your lips would be

On my own

How your hands would

Feel sliding over

My skin

Deep in my heart

And in my soul

I knew that we were

Made for each other

I knew that I needed

You, even if I

Didn’t know why
