Turns Out, Lia Thomas Isn't Even THAT Fast...
YES, this is about transphobia. More to the point, this is just more trans Hate

Newsweek published an interesting article, serving up some interesting facts about Lia Thomas’ times.
Republicans don’t suddenly care about women’s sports. They don’t suddenly care about fairness, either. But boy howdy are there otherwise rational people jumping on this opportunity to hate on a trans woman with impunity.
Y’all love to hate us. It’s back in fashion as an American pastime. (Never actually left…) Baseball, Apple Pie and loudly admitting you find us icky. I find your behavior, and your “it’s just common sense” comments, icky. We do agree on the “common”part, though. Basic, even. No sense in any of what you’re spewing, though.
I’m not a bit surprised at how many folks are getting this completely wrong, because so many cishets REVEL in getting it wrong and then polishing the old turd, “I’m entitled to my opinion.”
It’s kinda like I feel when I see white folks define what is and isn’t racism to black folks. That’s fun, too.
I confess, I am not a sports person. I can’t tell you why trans women want to play sports things, but they do, and I support them. I do enjoy baseball and have gone to many games to see our Phillies play. I prefer warm weather, non-violent sports. And Diamond Club seats. Ahem.
I imagine many of y’all wouldn’t say a word if a trans man was out there playing professional baseball. But let a trans woman be a collegiate swimmer who’s pretty good? OH MY GOD! We have to protect the other girls!!!!! From what? The completely undocumented shit you make up in your heads, that’s what.
There are indeed guidelines in place for trans women in sports, and Lia has adhered to all of them. If you’re mad because we don’t know “enough” about trans physiology - join the fucking club! I get my estrogen through small transdermal patches. I have to wear multiple patches at a time, because they don’t even make a strength suitable for trans women. We have to adapt to what is created for cis women.
In fact, much of what we know about HRT has to be interpreted through studies on cis people, because no one cares to spend the money to know what is and isn’t safe and proper for us. It’s all kind of a crap shoot. We’re not a big enough demographic to warrant specific study regarding our needs.
My doctor, who I adore, said, “you probably know more about this (necessary dosages and delivery options) than I do.” She’s right. I probably do. Because I have to. It’s trans people ourselves who collect and share data, pay attention to side effects, and know what to recommend and what to avoid. Is this the most efficient way to do HRT? Of course not. But I’m happy to have a doc who works with me and monitors all my levels, and keeps learning. It’s all getting better, but it is far from perfect. Maybe if we could agree trans people actually exist, we’d do something more about their healthcare beyond trying to legislate it away. A girl can dream.
I don’t remember anyone calling “Unfair!” When Michael Phelps was collecting his medals. (Plural.) But you know what? He does have physical advantages most other humans don’t and can’t. How can that be? Where was the outrage? Where is the outrage? Rhetorical.
I just picture a bunch of y’all cis folks sitting around, cracking open the Miller Lite, so relieved it’s “logical” to shit all over trans women in sports with little knowledge, zero compassion, and a heaping dose of relief you can (finally!) let it all out.
I watched a friend field a whole bunch of ugly because they simply posted congratulations to Lia on Facebook. I so wish social media would stop conferring all these medical degrees. It’s easy for me to forget y’all are medical doctors (which my friend actually is) and just see you all as a bunch of hypocritical bigots.
Lia Thomas is a good swimmer. She managed to win one race out of three, this time. And y’all have lost your shit like she was bionic or something. Y’all are having a big old field day spouting misinformed (WRONG, actually) garbage because you don’t like the idea of making room for people you will likely never understand, and don’t care to. Simple as that.
Lia Thomas is very good at staying in her lane.
Y’all would do well to follow her lead.
Peace, Lovelies
