A Quiet Moment in Time’s Maelstrom

A second so full of life

Minutes of silence pull you back

Into the reality of hours.

The eternal sound of a roaring sea

A lasting thunder of waves

How long must one listen

To have truly heard the ocean?

The rose’s scent drawn into the nostrils

Fine and almost intoxicating

The eyes delight in its perfection

Completing the explosion of senses.

The blanket’s enclosing warmth

Cotton against naked skin

Caressing and playing with your safety

As you knew it from your first day.

A hand to hold

One you love

One who supports

One who is there for you.

The heart’s beat drowns out fear

Your mother’s was the first you knew

Lay your ear against your beloved’s chest

And rediscover your safety.

How much can you endure?

Demands point fingers at you

You often fight blindly

But do you find me?

I am everywhere

If you seek me

I am the calm the soul must find

A lighthouse guiding your way.

Silence lowers its weapon

Darkness fades in the glow of stars

The night embraces sleep

The gate of dreams opens its paradise.

Nice job, Henrik. I particularly liked these lines: "The eternal sound of a roaring sea A lasting thunder of waves How long must one listen To have truly heard the ocean?" I spend a lot of time on the beach near the ocean, especially when few people are around, and it is very different in its sounds and its form.

Darkness fades in the glow of stars. Just beautiful. It almost sounds like part of a prayer you’d whisper to yourself to give you strength. Fab Henrik.
