Punk Musk and Trump.
Like Them or Not, Both Are Unconventional.

The picture I have posted above looks like a Sid Vicious Elon Musk. Punk was and is all about shaking things up and a 'D-I-Y' mentality. Whether you admire Musk or loathe him he is a person who does all of the above. The billionaire has his own electric car company, Tesla. His Sattelite communication network and his Space-X company. Co-operating with NASA his mission is to send humans to Mars and establish the first colony. Though of course, many of the colonists will be rich. It will be a long time before the likes of you and I ever set foot on the Red Planet. Musk is like the proverbial character of David Bowie's "The Man Who Fell To Earth". An alien who came here to save his planet using Earth's resources and go home. Some jokingly and realistically question Musk's origins. Is he a real alien who fell to Earth? A Martian even, hence his obsession with "Occupying Mars" as his t-shirts proclaim. Alien or not, he likes to keep people guessing. He is South African but an American citizen now. Alien or Earthman, Musk for better or worse is a phenomenon of our times.
So how did Elon get mixed up with Donald Trump? Musk was originally a Democrat. In theory, he should have backed Kamala Harris. However, for some reason best known to himself, he liked Trump politically and financially. Trump like Musk, is a businessman, and is this why Musk backed him? What's in it for Musk to back Trump? Were some of Harris' policies on abortion, transgender, etc, just a little too extreme for Musk? Such questions will be addressed to Musk. Historians will forever be asking what attracted Musk to Trump.
If we recall the Punk ethos, Trump is a maverick. With his dyed blonde hair and outlandish appearance, he looks odd. Trump like Musk, is an outsider, especially in the path most people tread in politics. Trump with his brash outspoken ways is Punk to the core. Upsetting the 'woke establishment' just as Punk in the 70s and 90s upset the establishment. However, others would point out that while Trump and Musk share a 'D-I-Y' ethos like Punk there is a difference. Musk and Trump are outspoken the same as Punk but again there are differences.
Punk was and is about ordinary folk doing things for themselves. Having no money but working with what they have. That was the ethos of the 70s Punks like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc. Although, bands like The Clash did go on and become rather big. Likewise in the 90s, The Prodigy, Green Day, and others carried on the Punk movement. And although that rebellious spirit was still there, these bands made potloads. If I am correct, Green Day remain the most successful Punk Rock band ever. The spirit of Punk lives on in new bands and those still around.
So the fact that Trump and Musk are mavericks and innovative (at least in Musk's case) is Punk but being billionaires not so much. At least in the original philosophy of Punk and what it stood for. That said, if Johnny Lydon supported Trump it wouldn't surprise me. It's not the money that the ex-Pistol member would like but the idea of being different.
During Trump's campaign, Musk donated $250 million to the Orange One's campaign. In Pounds Sterling that is £196 million. That is just a fraction of what Musk and others gave to the Trump campaign.
Musk got voters to sign up to vote for Trump and they would receive a million Dollars. While this money would help poorer Americans let us call it out for what it is: a bribe.
Although a large segment of Americans whether white, black, or native American voted for Trump. Many voters were bought and that is the plain truth.
