Author Scams

I've recently come into contact with this new member on Vocal-Media. They approached me via comments on a poem I had posted. I was almost dumb enough to fall for it too.

Below is the poem I posted in Poets. I consider it a rather complex poem and I really did not think it would get any engagement. A few hours later I received a notification on my phone from Next gen reader in the form of a comment...

naturally I opened the Vocal app to read the notification and below is the most awe aspiring comment I have ever received. I was overjoyed and had to wait and absorbed what had been written before I replied. Maybe almost an hour later.

While corresponding I also did a quick search to try and learn more. I was overjoyed and found a company with a similar name and thought this must be legit. They requested my gmail and I gave it to them. (I've since removed my gmail from these comments) Below is the email they sent me and it was immediately apparent that it was AI generated. I could not even find the address this came from. Still overjoyed it took several searches for me to come to the realization that this is bogus. :(

It is sad having your hopes built up and thinking this is it, maybe this is what I've been waiting for. The funny thing is my writing, has nothing to do with the groups they had proposed to promote to below. But this still did not stop me from being so hopeful.

Just a friendly warning and a good reminder to myself, nothing comes easy and don't be fooled by a sweet talker. And maybe my poem is not as good as I had thought, but I'm here on Vocal and happy bout that!
