‘Lamento’, with Sara Jiménez and directed by Rubén Sánchez.
The young actress Sara Jiménez stars in the thriller Lamento, directed by Rubén Sánchez. It is a story about the psychological and sexual aggression that many women experience when they return home at night.

The film is a medium-length sequence shot in Barcelona. Sara Jiménez is joined in the cast by Antonia San Juan, Aitor Luna, Stephanie Gil, José Neira and Sergi Cañas, among others. Produced by Jep Barcelona, through Smilefilms.
Sinospsis: Anna (Sara Jiménez) is partying at a place where car races are held. There she has several run-ins with boys who try to take advantage of her and her vulnerability. Everything becomes tense when Anna receives a call from her little sister, who has gone on holiday with her friends and has left her abandoned at a train station.

As for the technical team, Lamento has director of photography Thais Català, production assistant Paula Baviera, Txell Mesa as Gaffer, Pancha Hernández as production manager, Isabel Domenech as wardrobe manager, Julieta Candela Umaña as make-up artist, Gemma Moreno as art director and Axel Marín in charge of the Steadicam, among others.
The director and scriptwriter, Rubén Sánchez, said: ‘I saw very clearly that Sara Jiménez gave the profile we were looking for. I knew it was a challenge for her, not only because of the infrastructure of the project, but also because of her uncut stamina on an interpretative level. Her character is very tough, with a very powerful transformation arc. Sara from the first day I met her I saw that she would be Anna. Her preparation and her commitment to her work make her a person who creates a bond of trust and conformity with the whole team. She has a promising future and is a marvellous actress and person’.

For his part, the director and producer, Jep Barcelona, commented: ‘It was a very complex filming with more than 50 people and a very complex shoot with more than 50 people and a very large set. There are 12 minutes in a real sequence shot shot at night where there was no room for error. The pressure was very great but Sara has managed to lead Lamento from the first rehearsal’. Regarding Sara Jiménez's performance, he said: ‘Her role was very difficult, it required a lot of concentration and a high level of acting, which is only for great actresses and she is undoubtedly one of them. The entire LAMENTO family wants to denounce this type of stories that, as we know, unfortunately happen every night’.
Lamento is the latest film by Catalan director Rubén Sánchez (Joc de nens, Una mujer frente al mar, El chico del 98, Génesis, Rosario). Sara Jiménez, who has worked under the orders of Pedro Almodóvar (Julieta) and Paco Arango (Maktub, Los Rodríguez y el más allá), among others, plays Anna, a young woman who, while out partying, receives a call from her little sister, Eva, played by Stephanie Gil (Sordo, Terminator Dark Destiny, The Best Summer of My Life, Fátima).

The rest of the characters are played by Antonia San Juan, Aitor Luna, José Neira, Gisela Ruiz and Sergi Cañas. The film is produced by Jep Barcelona through smilefilms.
It is shot in a sequence shot under the orders of director of photography Thaïs Català (Sana Sana, by Nathy Peluso) together with Gemma Moreno (art direction), Efrem Carbó (sound), Lara Stolzenberger (editing), Jaume Ponsa (colour); Alba Farelo (music); Paula Baviera (assistant director), Txell Mesa (gaffer), Pancha Hernández (production manager), Isabel Domenech (wardrobe), Julieta Candela Umaña (make-up) and Axel Marín (steadicam), among others.

Sara Jiménez has been working in film, theatre and television since she was ten years old. Now, at 20, she makes a qualitative leap in her career by taking on a demanding lead role in which she must embody the fear and anguish suffered by women in a patriarchal society: ‘Her role was very difficult, it required a lot of concentration and a high level of acting only suitable for great actresses. And she, without a doubt, is one’, emphasises the producer and director Jep Barcelona, who hopes that this film will reach the widest possible audience “because the whole Lamento family wants to denounce this type of situation which, as we know, happens every night”.

The script arose from the filmmaker's desire to reflect what threatens any girl when she goes out partying at night. ‘From the day I met her, it was clear to me that Sara would be Anna. I knew it was going to be a challenge for her, not only because of the infrastructure of the project, but also because of her uncut stamina on an acting level. Her character is very tough, with a very powerful arc of transformation’.
