Rene Magritte’s works are fantastic works of escapism. There is beauty in the mundane and in the everyday. Nighthawks Urban isolation
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper in 1942 is truly one of my favourite paintings of all time. My interpretation of this iconic painting is accurate. Another interpretation of my own is that these people are lost souls and Nighthawks an seemingly unassuming diner is actually purgatory. This painting gives me chills because it’s about isolation in an urban area or rural area you can be isolated anywhere. This artistic triumph holds relevance in today’s world due to our cell phones and social media. Nighthawks is a work of fine art and there is no question about that and Edward Hopper created a masterpiece.

Years of conflict had cast long shadows over Commander Wail’s homeland. Even as a child, he had been surrounded by conversations of war. His parents, both doctors, often stayed awake at night, anxious over the safety of their country, the devastating consequences of battles, and the lives of countless children. Young Wail would return from school, his mind heavy with thoughts, hearing his classmates discuss the horrors of war. He often wondered why everyone seemed consumed by fear and destruction.

Not Just For Clean Up: A History Of The MCU's Department of Damage Control
Initially an organisation that seemed to exist to help the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Phase Four onwards, the Department of Damage Control has shifted into a more antagonistic role. Most recently seen in the Wonder Man series, the current incarnation of Damage Control seems to target superpowered individuals, regardless of whether that person poses an active or intentional threat.
