Losing access to a crypto wallet is something you never really think will happen—until it does. I had heard stories before, of people misplacing their seed phrases or forgetting passwords, but it always seemed like something that happened to someone else. I thought I had taken all the right precautions. I’d stored my information securely, or so I believed. But in one moment, I found myself locked out of my own wallet, staring at a screen that wouldn’t let me in, and realizing I could no longer access nearly $1.1 million worth of cryptocurrency.
