Lost in thought
She didn’t remember that grove of trees. Which, you are quite right, is ridiculous. How can a grove of trees look any different than another another grove of trees? And how could you possibly tell the difference between one and the next? She wasn’t sure. Maybe it was the low branches hitting the ground at the wrong angle. Or maybe it was the wildflowers around it that looked different. But she knew something was wrong.

Four-letter words, the prompt said. Well that’s a struggle. No, not like that. I have lots of swear words swirling around my brain. I am a military-grade swearing machine. I mean, not to boast or anything, but I’m practically a walking verbal weapon. And because I swear in two different languages, my bombs land hard and shrapnel wide.

What's the meaning of beauty?
There is the beauty that isn’t earned. The pretty face, the symmetrical features, the perfect hip-to-waist ratio. Long limbs, elegant wrists, shapely eyes. Silky hair that flows the way it should, straight knees, ears that don’t look like barn doors.

There are no easy ways to share a toilet seat with a spider
People often ask how they could become a ninja like me. That’s easy, I say. You could train like a maniac for 20 years. Or you could carry a cooler up the hill to your island cottage and walk nose-first into a spider web.
