The Abandoned, part 1
We’ve all heard something about ghost towns and abandoned buildings. You might think it’s a fascinating but rare phenomenon, but you’d be wrong. If you dig deeper, you’d find it’s actually quite common. Disturbingly common, in fact. There’s at least one in every U.S. state, and thousands around the world. When you add in vacant properties, the list probably balloons to millions.

First off, what is friendship? Yeah, I know… sounds like a stupidly-simple question. But is it? No one person, even between just two people, can decide if the other one is friends with them. If we’re honest with ourselves, we absolutely grapple with that uncertainty. We grapple with it every time.

Why do civilizations fall? Why with a world around them, a people behind them, and major achievements in their name… do they decline? Why would anyone, any race of people, leave all that behind? Or why does something always happen that forces the people to do so?
