Decoding Movie Reviews
I remember working for a theatre company and one of their shows received terrible reviews. All of the papers hated this production. Of course, these reviewers came to the preview performances, so when it came time to put out the advertisements to bring the audience in, I saw publicity magic happen. With snippets and keywords from these scathing reviews our publicist was able to turn these negative reviews into glowing recommendations. By using their words and partial facts it was possible to use their feedback as references.

10 Best Robin Williams Characters
Robin Williams was an amazing performer. He started in stand-up comedy, where his high energy, crazy characters and perfect timing helped propel him to stardom. As an actor, he could play loud, boisterous characters or inhabit a role that required a quiet gravitas. In either situation, he shined as a performer. When Robin Williams took his own life in August of 2014, he left a huge hole in the hearts of his fans and an emptiness in the entertainment industry that will never be replaced.

The First Frankenstein Film
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelly was first published in January of 1818. It has since become a horror classic. The Creature was immortalized on film in 1931, when Universal Studios released Frankenstein with Boris Karloff playing Frankenstein’s Monster. However, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has been featured in over 60 movies and television shows. The very first film was released in back 1910 by Edison Studios.

Batman and Robin Serial 1949
I recently watched Batman and Robin. No, I am not talking about the 1997 George Clooney and the infamous nipple suit. This is the 1949 serial that was released by Columbia pictures in 1949. It is a 15 chapter serial that follows Batman and Robin as they try to discover who the Wizard is and capture him. The Wizard may not be one of Batman’s colorful villains from the comics but in this story he is the evil mastermind who has stolen a device capable of controlling vehicles from great distances. He even has a submarine.

Batman Serial 1943
This is not your comic book Batman. It was the first DC Superhero to get his own serial but due to strict regulations on serials at the time and being produced during World War 2 there are a lot of changes. Bruce Wayne is still a rich lazy millionaire but Batman is not a vigilante. He is working for the FBI to help battle the evil Axis Powers. Rather than fight his famous villains, his enemy is Dr. Tito Daka, a Japanese spy. Warning, this film has a lot of racist elements because of the time in which it was written. Irish actor J. Carrol Naish played Dr. Daka and used a very stereotypical Japanese accent. When first introducing the location of the villain's lair the voice over describes Little Tokyo being empty by saying, "Since a wise government rounded up the shifty eyed japs." Holy Political Incorrectness Batman! Be prepared for this because I was not and it took me a few episodes to get back into the film. Batman will call the police to arrest criminals after dealing with them but does not work directly with them. There is no bat signal and no Commissioner Gordon. Instead they have a Captain Arnold.

Halloween may be the biggest holiday for people to dress up in costumes but it is not the only one. There have been different costumes created for almost every major holiday. Any costume store on the web has a holiday costume section, even those that title themselves a Halloween superstores or express. No matter what holiday, we see a similar pattern between men and women costumes.

The first Batman themed sets were released in 2006. In 2012, LEGO expanded to create the larger DC Super Heroes Theme, but Batman continued to be the central character in these sets. LEGO books, movies and video games frequently focus on Batman as the main character. The LEGO Batman Movie even got 2 CMF series dedicated to it. In 2020, LEGO gave us the DC Super Heroes CMF series. This series included Batman but focused more on the larger DC comic book world. It includes a lot of characters never released as minifigures before.
