hunting behaviour of pet cats: an introduction
The domestic cat is a predatory species meaning that cats hunt for their food. Much like their wild ancestors, domestic cats are specialised solitary hunters. Up until fairly recent times, cats were primarily kept as pest controllers rather than companions. At this point only the best hunters were able to survive and reproduce, meaning that our pet cats today are descended from the most adept hunters. As we have done very little selective breeding of cats (in comparison with dogs) and generally exert little control over their breeding, the instinctive need to perform hunting behaviour remains strong. Cats are referred to as ‘obligate carnivores’. This means that cats need to eat meat to survive and fulfil their specific and unique nutritional requirements. As cats hunt alone their prey is small in size as this is all they are capable of catching on their own. The most common prey type for cats is small mammals and birds. Some cats are also skilled enough to catch larger prey such as rabbits. Due to the small size of their prey, cats need to make several kills throughout a 24-hour period to consume their daily energy requirements. In fact, a cat that has no supplementary food from an owner can make as many as 10 to 20 kills each day.

My Mom Is My Hero
My hero is someone who means the world to me and that is my mom. My mom is my hero, my idol, my model figure, my everything. I define my mom as a hero because she has provided me with guidance, motherly love, and has always been there for me. She has also supported me in every way possible. My mom is someone in my life that gives me a reason to live for and never give up. First of all, my mom is my hero because she has given me guidance and advice when I needed it the most. When having to make a hard decision. My mom has been with me since day one and that was when I was conceived. She has dealt with all my disasters and has seen me grow up making mistakes. Yet, she manages to find it within herself to love me and always stay close to me. My mom has rare ways to show me her love. For example, she would play around with me and act like someone my age would act. It makes me laugh so badly that I can’t help but let out tears of laughter. My mom always has those moments where she would try to do things to make me smile. There’s also those times where she would act like the worried mother. I remember when I had gotten really sick that I couldn’t eat for two days without wanting to throw up. I couldn’t even hear people talk about food because it would send a wave of protesting cells in my stomach into a riot. It was a bad day and I was so hungry but the worse part was that I couldn’t eat anything. My mom was so scared and worried that she turned into full protective mama bear mode. I would never forget those days because she wouldn’t leave my side at all until I felt better. She would keep me in her room and we would watch movies together until I felt tired and fell asleep. When I would wake up, she would have soup prepared for me so that I at least would be able to eat something. My mom was so caring that it touches my heart every time I remember that moment. She’s always there trying. Through all the baby steps I’ve taken in my life so far, my mom has been alongside me being supportive. My mom has always told me to take advantage of my education because one day I’d grow up to become someone important. She’s told me to never give up and never let anyone or anything stop me because I have the ability to make a change in the world and in my life. I’ve been doing as she’s told me and so far everything has been looking good. Through every letter from states houses and congress members, my mom is there supporting me at all times. She has been a great influence to all of my accomplishments. I remember getting many invitations to prestige scholar camps and an invitation to see the ceremony of the president of the United States for 2017 in which I would also receive a medal of excellence. I was so happy with myself that I achieved this honorable mention. My mom has also supported me in means of my interests for a future career. She has been my teacher, counselor, role model, and friend for all of my life. My mom is an incredible person and role model. She always looks out for me and gives me great advice. Having her in my life makes me want to be a better person. She has shown me to fake a smile here and there to make it through the day. She has been a strong mother for my sister and me, which has shown me that I must also be strong with my future children. I need to be children’s rock and always provide for them. My mother has been a strong and loyal wife to my father, which is a key characteristic that I will carry through my future marriage. Every time I struggled, she encouraged us to do our best and make the best in every situation. With that reassurance and emotional support, it gave me this confidence that I should not doubt myself. She always pushed me to try again after I failed so many times. So I kept studying harder every day to improve myself. Furthermore, I always behaved so nicely and happily due to the interaction with my mom.… I believe a good mother is a woman who is always there for you no matter what. She will be there through all the good and bad. A good mother will treat you like the most important person and could do anything for you. She will support you and always be someone you can turn to for advice. A good mother is hardworking and understanding.… My mom always makes sure to put us as her first priority and make sure we are happy, even if she isn’t. I would not be able to handle everything like she does. No matter the circumstances she is always there for me and my sisters. I know even if all of my friends left I would still have a best friend. My mom has amazing artistic abilities, and she is also intelligent.… She has held the role of board member F since the day of my birth, and for many reasons. Similar to my mother, my aunt plays the role of cheerleader, taking pride in my accomplishments and sharing them with her friends. My aunt encourages me to pursue my future goals by providing, support, and unconditional love. My aunt represents a second motherly figure in my life, and I know I can rely on her to provide quality advice. My aunt knows of her position on my Board of Directors because she has assisted me multiple times in the past and will continue to assist me. Something about my mom just helps me to always stay positive. Whether it's the way she lives life to the fullest, the troubles that she has gone through, or the way she bounces back from those troubles. My mom has always kept her positive act on, and I don’t know how she does it. She will always be the person in the room that is the most bubbly and excited about life. She has gone through hard times, but tough hope has guided her through hard experiences with life.… She was able to show me that I am a good person and shouldn’t be around bad people. My mom is my role model because she always knows what to say and how to help me. Mother is love she is what children, the offspring, call the one who raised them, gave birth to them, took care of them, protected them from all evil, did anything in her power to keep them happy and well nourished. One 's mother is responsible for making her child the little monster he/she is today. A mother loves unconditionally and will make everything better with their warm smiles or in someone 's case, her corny jokes. A mother is what children, people all around the world, recognize. I'm so proud of my mother. She's a strong woman, not physically but because of the many things she has been through but still remains a good person. She raised us most of the time specially when papa's away doing his job to provide us with everything we need. She never lied to us about money. She'd tell us if we have a little extra for what we want and she'd tell us when we're broke. She taught us to free our hearts from hatred and jealousy. To free our hearts from anger.

What's happening with a fourth stimulus check?
Biden has not committed to another round of payments, and White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the administration will look to Congress for a proposal for a fourth payment. Keep that Biden stimulus letter from the IRS. Hold on to that IRS letter signed by Biden that confirms your stimulus payment, including the amount and how the IRS sent your money. That letter from the IRS -- Notice 1444-C -- is your proof that the IRS sent a payment in case you don't actually receive it or if you received less than you qualify for and need to claim the missing amount later. Here's more on what to do with that IRS letter. The IRS may owe you money for the first and second stimulus checks. Plus-up payments are going out weekly along with the third round of checks, but they may not be the only money you're due. For money missing from the first two checks, you need to claim that on your 2020 taxes. We suggest making sure you also know where to find your adjusted gross income. Tax nonfilers may need to be proactive about claiming a new dependent, too. What if you have a problem with your stimulus payment? Start here to see an update on its status. The IRS doesn't want you to call if you encounter a problem with the delivery or amount of your stimulus check. So what to do instead? Our guide walks you through how to report stimulus check problems, including checks that never arrived (try filing a payment trace), direct deposit payments that went to the wrong account and other issues. Did you get less money than you expected in your check? The IRS isn't particularly big on communicating how much money it calculates for your stimulus check. You won't find that figure in the agency's online tracking tool, but you will see it in the confirmation letter you'll receive in the mail. (And here's why you got the payment size you did.)

The Latest Coronavirus Comes From Dogs
Scientists have known for decades that coronaviruses can cause disease in dogs, but until recently there had not been any evidence that these viruses can infect humans. Scientists have discovered a new canine coronavirus in a child who was hospitalized with pneumonia in Malaysia in 2018. If the virus is confirmed to be a human pathogen, it would be the eighth coronavirus, and the first canine coronavirus, known to cause disease in humans.

FASHION TRENDS OF THE 70'S
Anyone who’s paid attention to the catwalk these past few seasons will know that 70s fashion still inspires designers such as Victoria Beckham, Chloe and Gucci today. That decade was quite simply bold and overstated at its best. Continuing the 1960s fashion theme of individual style, flares, platforms, fringing and suede dominated the 70s fashion era with icons aplenty; Joni Mitchell, Cher, Bianca Jagger and more making huge waves in the style world. It’s safe to say the seventies’ style was a stark contrast from the 1980s fashion that followed it. So many trends defined the 70s, not least the boho trend which Sienna Millar revived in the 00s. Peasant blouses, tie dye, bell sleeves, crochet dresses and bell bottoms were all staples of that trend.

Carbon footprint
Every living thing depends on the ocean. Covering more than 70% of our planet’s surface, it contains an astounding diversity of life and affects everything from global weather patterns to food systems. So when we hear the ocean is in trouble from the effects of overfishing, climate change, and pollution it’s easy to feel powerless. While many of these issues will require leadership from governments and businesses, there are plenty of actions you can take that will make a big difference for the ocean. There’s a good reason why flights take the brunt of environmentalists’ ire. They can account for a huge proportion of your annual carbon footprint – particularly if you’re a habitual or long-haul flyer. Research from The Guardian has found that one long-haul flight can produce more carbon emissions than the average citizen produces in a year in a number of countries. For example, a long-haul return flight from London to New York produces around 986kg of CO2 per passenger, more than the annual carbon emissions of citizens in 56 countries, including Burundi and Paraguay.
