Homegoing
8:00 p.m. Saturday night, October 11th, Greensboro, North Carolina. Destiny is waiting for her friends Trevon and Giselle to come pick her up for the homecoming party at North Carolina’s A&T university, her alma matter. “So how long are y’all gonna be out?” Destiny’s mother Vera asked. “Ma you know homecoming is all day, all night” Destiny replied. “Yeah, but we ain’t hardly seen you all or all night since you been home.” Destiny’s father Charles added as he walked in on the conversation. “Daddy you know I’ve been tryna catch up with everybody since I got back Thursday. I’ve missed everyone since I moved after I graduated 2 years ago”

Our Friend Michelle
Every generation has that entertainer who reflects the lives of the audience who grows up watching them. Someone I’ve always looked up to who embodied that reflection in my generation is actress Michelle Trachtenberg. Yesterday was her birthday, so it’s only fitting that she deserves a birthday tribute.

9/11 Stairclimb 2025: United We Remember
Yesterday. Saturday, September 13th 2025 was the date of Greensboro’s annual 9/11 Stairclimb which is hosted by the city every year during the week of the 9/11 anniversary, so naturally I attended. This year was my 5th year attending the Stairclimb and I have to say this was my best year attending so far. The 20 year anniversary of 9/11 back in 2021 was the first year I ever attended the Stairclimb thanks to my friend and former high school teacher Tara Pidgeon. I’ve gone every year since and though every year has been great, none have quite matched that first time going until this year.

9/11 Remembered: Sarah Bishop
Joe: When were you born? Sarah: I was born after the September 11th, 2001 attacks, so I didn’t experience the events firsthand. My entire understanding of 9/11 has come from what I have been taught, the stories of my parents, and through documentaries and commemorations.

In this interview I speak with my former 5th grade teacher and friend Kris Pass who lost her friend Sandra Teague on American Airlines flight 77 which was hijacked and crashed into the pentagon that morning.
