30 for 30
Sup…My name is Joe Patterson. I am a writer for Vocal.com and last weekend on February 5th I made it to my 30th birthday. In the past I never really thought much about what it would be like if I actually lived to see the age of 30, but here I am. I made it to the big 3-0 and I wanted to write an article retracing the different stages of my life and what I have learned in my three decades in this world.

Black History Month: The Greensboro Sit-In
In the aftermath of the brutal murder of Emmett Till many calls to action for Civil Rights were taking shape. One of the earliest started in my hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. This event that would take shape would become known as the Greensboro Sit-In and its formation would take shape in a way that not only changed the city, but the country as a whole forever.

Black History Month: The Murder Of Emmett Till. Top Story - February 2023.
If anyone were to ever ask the question of when exactly did the American Civil Rights movement begin, they would probably receive multiple responses. Perhaps the best response that one could give would be August 28th, 1955. It was on this day that one of the most senseless and brutal murders in American history took place, the murder of Emmett Louis Till. This was also the day that darkness was brought to the light in a way that would change the world forever.

It’s been a long road getting back to myself and it hasn’t been easy, but I’m slowly getting there. I cried a lot of tears, went through my stages of grief…well, the majority of them anyway. Part of me is getting back in the rhythm of life, but another part of me is still missing, what is it?”

Classic Albums: Amerikkka's Most Wanted
In the late 80's rapper Ice Cube was a frontline member of the biggest group in Hip Hop at the time, NWA. After a business feud with the group's founder Eazy-E and the group's manager, Jerry Heller, Ice Cube embarked on a solo career. Many people had doubts that Cube would succeed being that he had just left the baddest crew in the land, but others were hopeful that Ice Cube's star would shine brighter than ever before. That star would come in the form of his solo debut, Amerikkka's Most Wanted.
