This Heist Was One Of A Kind
The thing about a good heist is you gotta think out of the box. The element of surprise is all important. Most folk think it's all about banks and art galleries, but these days that game is for mugs. You have to take it somewhere else if you're going to have any chance of getting away with it.

How To Conjure Up A Short Story
How to conjure up a short story is not unlike writing down a recipe for baking a cake. First, you need to list the ingredients, and then you write the process of mixing and baking those ingredients to produce a mouth-watering cake. It's just like magic.

The Heist That Never Was
An unwitting art collector had bought the work of modern art for two million dollars, and a large insurance company had paid out on it to the tune of another two million. And yet, all along the German expressionist painting by Kandinsky was hidden in plain view exactly where it had been for the past forty years.

To The Top Of The Mountain And Beyond
For more than thirty years I promised myself that one day I would climb Mount Snowden in Wales. Every time I went past, usually with my wife and three children in tow, en route to the island of Anglesey, where we had a caravan at a lovely place called Sandy Beach, I would say quietly to myself, "One day...."

A Writer's Lightbulb Moment
This morning I chanced upon one or two little cheats whilst writing a short story called 'Skating On Thin Ice.' And I feel it is incumbent upon me to share what I discovered with all of our writers here on Medium and Vocal Media. What I came across will help me to be more productive, as well as save me time and pulling my hair out with recalcitrant computer systems.

Skating On Thin Ice
I never broke a single bone in my life, until I reached the age of forty. It was a Saturday morning and I had my three young children staying for the weekend. Being separated, I always wanted to make the most of their visits, to give them some happy memories of their childhood with me. On this particular visit, I decided to take the children to the Blades ice rink. Not that I was an expert at sliding around an arena of sheet ice. I could, however, go around the rink without constantly falling on my ass.

An Education in Narcissistic Violence
It is quite common to find Narcissistic tendencies in many walks of life, including close personal relationships, the world of work and social gatherings and interactions. And it should come as no surprise that the condition, more often than not, first comes into play during a person's early years of development at home and at school. Eventually, narcissism can progress well into adulthood and is a major cause of problems between us as individuals. Here I will touch upon a few examples of how it affected me during my early years in my life at home as well as at school during my secondary education.

The Wonderful World of Work
As regular readers of mine will know only too well, Narcissism is something of a pet subject with me. Now, pretty much all I have written so far has been about Narcissism in personal relationships. However, I must admit that Narcissism is in fact very prevalent in just about all other spheres of our daily lives. It can be observed in action in such a wide variety of situations. It is particularly noticeable in the worlds of entertainment, business and industry, sports, education, immediate families of many siblings and even neighbourhood interactions.

How To Recognise The Signs Of Narcissism
Two of the easiest to spot and most disagreeable aspects of Narcissism are gaslighting and projection. These are characteristics whereby the Narcissist projects all of the blame onto you and gaslights others, convincing them that you are the problem. And the Narcissists I have had the misfortune to be assaulted and abused by were both very, very adept at gaslighting other people about what was going on.

The road to Hell that ends In Heaven
The Roads To Hell That End In Heaven. Parts One and Two. As I sit in the dusky years of my life, on the other side of the world, far from the scene of my marital downfall, I cannot help but ponder a little on the roads that brought me here. There were days of desolation, depression and despair, days when I just wanted it all to end. Never did I think, nor allow myself to think, that one day it would all come to a good end. And in some ways, it never really did. But I did my best, and where I did end up is as darn near heaven as one could expect, under the circumstances.
