4 Years of Marriage Equality. Top Story - June 2019.
On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that marriage equality was the law of the land in all 50 states, almost 46 years to the day that the uprising of the Stonewall Inn occurred in New York. The United States was the 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. It was a victory for gay rights activists, same-sex couples, and the LGBT community. Two days ago, I wrote an article about why Pride Month matters and is important. In case you missed it, you can click the link below:

Why Pride Month Is Important and Needed
Pride Month is a time for LGBT people to celebrate who they are, but there are those who are opposed to any rights for people like myself. Yes, marriage equality has been legal for almost four years, but queer people still face discrimination and are being denied services, because of religious convictions. There are many states that have so called "religious freedom" bills and county clerks who refuse to issue marriage licenses to LGBT people. Religious freedom is just another term for license to discriminate. People do have a right to believe in whatever they want, but when your personal religious beliefs hurt other people, there are consequences, and in most cases, these are deadly. This year is the 50th anniversary of the uprising of the Stonewall Inn, which was a pivotal movement for gay rights. Since then, there has been groundbreaking moments that happened for LGBT people everywhere, and here are some of them:

My Thoughts About Jason David Frank in 2019
A year ago, I've written an article about Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank, and it received over 700 reads on Vocal. They say that honesty is the best policy, but after writing that article, I received a bit of backlash: being attacked, cussed out, and called every name in the book. Some people were accusing me of "disrespecting" Jason, which was not the case. I was merely pointing out that he does certain things for attention and relevance. I said that he needed to be more humble. This is how I felt for two years, and many didn't understand where I was coming from at the time. They were trying to twist my words around, and what I've said was taken out of context. It's sad that any time you speak the truth, people get in their feelings and accuse you of being mean. Fast forward two years later, I've had a change of heart about Jason, but first, I want to be clear of a few things. I'm not going to apologize for being honest, but I'm going to speak about why I suddenly had a change of heart.

Sega Genesis Mini Update
Greetings, Vocal readers. I have an update on the Sega Genesis Mini that you're going to love. So in case you're living under a rock or unaware of what's going on, two months ago, Sega announced that they will be releasing the Sega Genesis Mini on September 19. It will include 40 games and it's ready to plug and play. The retail price of it will go on sale for $79.99. For about $80, that's a really good deal for a piece of nostalgia. It's better than spending $200-$400 on an XBox One or PlayStation 4. I wrote an article about this back in March and disclosed the list of the first handful of games that will be on the Sega Genesis Mini and they are as follows:

Cosplayer Spotlight: Mister Cosplay
Greetings, my nerdy fam. Welcome to another copslayer spotlight feature, where I interview cosplayers, and they tell us more about themselves. This is my second cosplayer interview of 2019, and recently, I got a chance to chat with Matt Hollands, better known as Mister Cosplay. He's an amazing and talented cosplayer who has such a positive presence on social media, especially at conventions. I hope you enjoy this interview.

Cosplay Spotlight: Jason Chevres
Now that spring has arrived, I'm back with some cosplay interviews. Last year, I've had the pleasure of interviewing over a dozen cosplayers and hearing their stories of their love of cosplay were interesting. More interviews are coming this year, so be on the lookout. Just to remind everyone that I'm among the many entries in Vocal's Poetry in Motion contest. I wrote a poem about the challenges of having autism and being on the spectrum. April is both Autism Awareness Month and National Poetry Month. If you haven't had a chance to read it, check it out here!

How Has Cosplay Changed Your Life?
Last week, I've asked my friends and followers on Facebook and Instagram how cosplay has changed their lives. I often ask this interesting question, because I'm curious to hear the stories of cosplayers like myself and why they love it. Most of you have heard of my story of how cosplay has changed my life, so it is my pleasure to introduce everyone to two people that were willing to do just that. To check out my article about how cosplay has changed my life and taught me to be more confident in myself, you can check out the link here: https://geeks.media/cosplay-confidence

Cosplay Plans for Spring 2019 and Beyond
I've been quite busy lately with work and everything else. Most of 2018 was a difficult time for me—mental health issues, homelessness, and took a three month hiatus from cosplay until things improved. Last but not least, I've now lost 45 pounds and feel much better and more active. I do want to lose at least 10-15 pounds by the summer, so that's what I'm working on right now. I feel that 2019 will be so much better for me and I'm eager to find out what's in store. Three weeks ago, I debuted my first cosplay of the year, WWE star Irwin R. Schyster, or I.R.S. for short. You can see a pic of that below. He was the wrestler from the 80s and 90s who told us to not forget to pay our taxes.
