Know What's Frightening? Xenophobia
Xenophobia is a curse on humanity , and probably the whole of the animal kingdom too. Fear of the different , fear of the “not one of us”. These are my own observations on this abhorrent subject , but there are more authoritative links at the end of this piece.

Being A Man
I was born in the fifties and brought up in an environment where misogyny and racism were the norm and very acceptable , practiced on a daily basis. Growing up I cannot remember any non white kids in primary or secondary school , maybe that’s selective memory, but looking back that is really strange.

Passionate Friend
I was thinking , how does my Muse make it so that I can get and channel ideas. Almost everyone else has no effect on me whatsoever, and while working today I was listening to “Wilder” by The Teardrop Explodes and then Julian Cope and the band launched into the gorgeous “Passionate Friend” and then struck me , my Muse is passionate about everything that matters to them , in the most positive way,

The Witch's Promise
This poem is unusual because I name and link to the subject. If anyone I write about wants to come out as a subject , let me know and I will link you to my words. Sophia is a great friend and we almost played in a band together once but things didn’t gel. She sang, I played bass with a guitarist , saxophonist, drums and three singers.

Golden Hair
This sonnet is a tribute to a very good friend who may or may not reveal herself. The poem is personal to her, and was inspired when I saw a beautiful selfie of hers on Instagram. The song is a version of James Joyce’s “Golden Hair” by Syd Barrett.
