The Queen of the World - Chapter Three
Read the previous chapters here... Prologue Chapter One The meeting of allies took time to set up. After all, even messenger birds could only fly so quickly, and some of the attendees were travelling from the far corners of the empire.

Why I Still Enter Vocal Challenges
There have been a lot of pieces written recently about Vocal Challenges. Let's be real: Challenges are Vocal's biggest draw. Who wouldn't jump at the chance of winning thousands of dollars in prize money, with unlimited entries either for free or for the cost of membership? Most of us signed up for the challenges, but became disillusioned when announcement after announcement came and went without acknowledgment of our stories.

The Enclave - Prologue
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Dragons were rare, and hedonistic enough that when they deigned to dwell near humans, they settled at Enclaves, where they would be pampered as they felt they deserved. Besides, Enclaves tended to be far more fireproof than the average settement or dwelling, so one might argue that draconic snobbishness was a good thing.

The Enclave - Chapter One
Read the prologue here... The forest was filled with noise, but the interior of the carriage was quiet. Mikhail was busy with a book, while Tiera stared out the window, lost in thought. She knew that she wasn’t being sent away because her parents didn’t love her. Quite the contrary, since even she could admit that she had grown up extremely indulged. It was just that, as the Destrier Seat of Power was one that didn’t require it’s Holders to be able to use magic, and as she and Mikhail were the first Magicians born to the dynasty in generations (Well, excepting Mikhail’s mother, but she had been disinherited and died when Tiera and her cousin were infants), there simply wasn’t anyone to teach them.

Never Go Back
I promised myself I would stay out of this. I'm not an American citizen. I don't live in the United States, and I rarely visit. When I do, the longest I've stayed was five weeks, when a funeral lined up with a pre-planned holiday, extending my original 3-week trip. Theoretically, this shouldn't affect me in any tangible way.

Remember the Past - Prologue
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Perhaps they were not here now; illusion by such as skilled practitioner as they now faced could be indistinguishable from reality. They did not look like the dragons on heraldic crests, and if there had been dragons in the valley before, surely it would have been worthy of a month of local gossip, at least.
