Among the Stars, We Fade
The last ship docked in the port of Harlan Station just as the twin suns of Erythra dipped behind the jagged horizon. Mara could feel the hum of the engines through the floor beneath her boots, a vibration that matched the thrum of her chest. She hated goodbyes. Or maybe she hated the way they felt in this sector of the galaxy, where distances were measured not in miles, but in uncountable light-years, and every horizon hinted at something unspeakable beyond the veil of reality.

The Ritual
Every night at nine, Mara set the second place. She did it even when she ate standing at the counter, even when the sink was full and the radio was still murmuring to itself. She took the blue plate from the cupboard—the one with the chipped rim—and set it across from her. She folded the napkin into a neat rectangle. She put the fork on the left, the knife on the right, blade facing in, as if someone had taught her manners she was determined not to forget.

The Map of the Woman Who Stepped Out of the Mirror
There are the maps that come printed—color-coded highways, neat borders, tidy symbols. And then there are the ones you don’t realize you’re carrying until something forces you to look down and see the lines beneath your feet. The internal ones. The ones that shift while you’re walking them.

Through The Crack
I wasn’t supposed to be awake. The clock’s red digits glowed 3:07 a.m., painting my ceiling like a wound. I should’ve been asleep—my body heavy with exhaustion, my mind quiet—but the house had that wrong kind of silence, the kind that feels like it’s waiting for something.

Creator Mode. Top Story - November 2025.
My period is two days late. Even during my most stressful times of my undergrad and master’s courses, I was never late. In fact, I was early. How insane is that? Stressed? Early period. Traveling? Early period. Sneezed too hard? Early period.

The Harmony Protocol
In the year 2174, Earth was a planet without suffering. Hunger, disease, crime, and poverty were eradicated through a single achievement: the Harmony Protocol. A global neural network, designed by the technocratic think tank known as the Eudaimon Institute, the Protocol subtly interfaced with every human consciousness, smoothing impulses, aligning desires, and eradicating internal conflict. There were no wars because no one felt the need to fight. There was no greed, for satisfaction was engineered. Emotions were balanced, decisions optimized, and harmony achieved. The Protocol was not a cage but an orchestra, and humanity was its symphony.

Countdown
20 I constantly spend time staring at myself in mirrors and glass windows, tugging at whatever fat I can find on my body. My mother says I’m too thin but I don’t see it. I see strangers staring at me, whispering under their breath wishing they had my waist and my long legs but I don’t see how anyone would want the fat that covers my body.
