The Memes Of Ruby And The Mystery Cats
I have only met Caroline Wilkinson once, she was performing at the Cluny 2 playing an Iggy Pop song but she is also Ruby of Ruby and the Mystery Cats, a red hot rockabilly rock and roll combo vaguely located around Tyneside.

A look back: live lounge at the Angel on the 13th of August
It feels like only the other day I was writing about the showcase at river studios, but it has surprisingly almost been a month since I published that article. Time does fly, but the gigs don't stop. In this article I want to take a look back at the live lounge gig I organised on Friday the 13th of August. Before I do, however, I would very much like to thank all the acts that took part. Some familiar faces as we will later in this article and some new ones. Thanks also to Angel Inn for allowing me to put on this event and supporting it. Finally, thanks to everyone who brought a ticket and came along to the event. You are fabulous and doing a great job in supporting live music.

It's still falling down...
Thank you for the track All Falls Down. A long time ago, when life was simpler, this was simply a song with a funky beat and great lyrics that had a great vibe to it. Those were my adolescent days with my juvenile problems that felt like true cataclysmic catastrophes. Those would pale in comparison to the things that stress me today. This song speaks volumes about the trials and tribulations one will encounter on the road to glory. Iâm sure we all know how the song goes, but take into consideration the separate phases the song goes through in just a matter of minutes. Now Iâm writing solely based on my own experiences and interpretations of the song. Iâve second-guessed both of my degrees from the moment I got them because itâs so hard to find passion in a field with little to no grey area. âThat major that she majored in donât make no money.â Story of my life. Because the money to be made entails becoming a person Iâm not equipped to be. Selling yourself for a dollar is the theme. I thought I could find security in a field that wouldnât deviate so far from the rules and that hasnât been the case. The song itself reminds me that things will continue to go wrong as long as you keep focusing on all the wrongs around you. It takes a strong mind to be able to see the positives around you whenever everything seems darkest. The song will transcend time and generations because the problems depicted in the song have continued to plague our society. Many will criticize a person that decides to overlook their shortcomings for the pursuit of happiness. But those same people will also advise you to do what makes you happy. The contradiction lies in the fact that advice can only seem sound when that person is happy with their situation. The struggles we encounter will always be in abundance. It helps define us because the person that rises from being knocked down is never the same person that went down. You rise a little tougher, a little wiser, a lot more determined.

River Studio's acoustic night, Friday 8th July
I want to start this article off by thanking all the performers who played at this event. I hadn't actually met them before the event, as in some cases I actually found their music online. I have to say though, that everyone lived up to any expectation I had and the performances while all very different, were of high quality. Apart from me of course, but in all fairness, I barely got any sleep the night before and I hadn't eaten any dinner. Plus I had to worry about timing and making sure everyone turned up and if you don't know me I am a worrier especially when it comes to these sorts of things.

Soundtrack of Life
Music has been a part of my life since before I was born. Not a single moment of my life has happened without music. The moments I feel most alive are at concerts. There's nothing better than feeling so bad, but being surrounded by a group of strangers being loud and sweaty screaming the lyrics to your favorite band. During those moments, everything else just fades away.

POLICA (Concert Review) | Philly Music Vocalizer
What's old is new again. That's true not just of my personal experience with the Minneapolis-based synth-pop band POLIĂA â who performed recently just a couple of Fridays ago (on Friday, June 17th, 2022) âat The Foundry at The Fillmore Philadelphia. It's also true of the venue itself, The Fillmore Philly.

NYC Concert Analysis
I recently went to a show at Terminal 5. It was Madison Beer's "Life Support" tour. There were three different artists playing, two openers and the main artist. Her two openers were Audriix and Maggie Lindenmann, both of which were fantastic. They both brought very different, but enthusiastic energies. I spent a couple hours before the show outside of the back of the venue. During this time, I was able to watch the crew unload trucks, bring in/out equipment and I even met some of the people performing and on the crew. I noticed they had about two or three trucks filled with screens, lights, and chests full of sound gear. They had everything set up by around 3pm or 4pm and the show didn't start until 8pm. I was able to meet Audriix herself, and she was super kind! She gave me and my friends light up rings because they correlated to her set. One of the opening acts was a band, and when they arrived, I saw them bring in their equipment piece by piece. Later in the night when the show started, I was able to see their equipment all setup and in use. While me and my friend were still waiting behind this venue and it got closer to the start of the show, we started hearing really loud music coming from inside. I then realized we were listening to Madison Beer doing her soundcheck! When I walked into the venue, the stage was already set for the first opening act. There were PA systems on each side of the stage. The opening act was using a wireless microphone, due to lighting and where I was, I couldn't see specifically what brand or model it was. Audriix performed quite a few pop/edm songs. She was very energetic and definitely loves to perform. I followed her on Instagram after the show was over and got to see her post her tour outfits for every show and they were so cool! When Audriix was done and left stage, the stage crew walked up and took down the first openers banners and switched it with the next performer's. I noticed they were all wearing only black clothes, which I've learned in ISP is what a professional should wear to blend in with everything on stage. After bringing out new banners, they brought out a drum kit which seemed to consist of 5 pieces, and a new mic for the next performer. Maggie Lindenmann took the stage as red lights came on. The lights were synced to the beat of the music and were constantly flashing red and white or white and blue. It was really cool and it seems really difficult to sync up a performance like that. She performed her EP, "Paranoia," and a now-released song called "She Knows It." Each artist that was on stage wore in-ear monitors and were constantly taking them out and putting them back in. All the artists had a little box attached to them which I was assuming was to receive signal for their wireless microphones. Madison had props all over the stage that the crew were constantly moving around and changing. The back of the stage was completely covered in a huge screen that played many different visuals. Some visuals were just graphic visuals of space, stars, lights, etc and it looked fantastic. Her vocals were absolutely fantastic! After the show ended , the artist walked off and the stage crew immediately came out and starting striking everything from the stage. Overall it was a truly mesmerizing show and I can't wait for Madison's next tour.

Mighty Hoopla 2022
The first weekend of June marked a special occasion. Many flocked to London to celebrate the Queenâs platinum jubilee. As for me, I went to London for a different reason. I guess Mighty Hoopla was my way of celebrating the occasions even though I was stanning different kinds of Queens.

Living Vicariously Through Your Violin
"Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences." Sylvia Plath As a writer, I have an innate curiosity about all things from exotic locations to the inner workings of my fellow humans. Sometimes a desire for a time machine washes over me. The ability to temporarily visit past eras in person would be a dream come true.
