Emerging from lockdown
When lockdown struck, Teesside singer-songwriter Amelia Coburn was on the point of getting back to the recording studio. Nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2017, she put the music on pause to complete her studies in Modern Languages at Nottingham University – only to re-emerge into a very different cultural climate.

Mark Ambuter
MARK AMBUTER, a seasoned artist, biography reads ... "coming from a lengthy and experienced yet wholly unsatisfying music career when I was younger, here I am starting over at a time in my life when I should be just chilling and reaping the benefits of a life well lived. After being an important yet unrecognizable member of a 4 piece band... a fairly successful one at that... well relatively speaking anyway... I always dreamed of doing music my way... No compromises... Sink or Swim... No one to take the credit... or take the blame... it’s all me and I will take the heat for what I play and sing from this moment on ..."

Chantae’ Vetrice
Chantae’ Vetrice is an American Musical artist and songwriter from New York, NY. What sets you apart from the rest? I think what sets me apart from the rest is that I have continued to stay true to what resonates with me, despite the trend. I’m a lil hip hop, a lil rock-n-roll, and a lil pop. I take a lot of influence from Prince, Janet Jackson, and Gwen Stefani but my music has a modern and edgy sound to it. However, I believe it is so important to really understand who you are first. Once you can master that, everything else will fall into place. People recognize authenticity and appreciate it despite what may be popular at the time. It took me moving to Europe and living in Spain for two years in order for me to “find” myself and really come into my own character in music. I love experimenting with my voice and all it can do…from a sweet and airy sound, to the dark raspiness, I try not to put myself into a box when it comes to creating my music and how I want to represent myself to the world. The funny thing is that a lot of people have equated me to a young Grace Jones…I take it as a compliment.

DynamoMin
My Q&A with DynamoMin during this time of social distancing .... let the music still play! What is your chosen genre? I have always had difficulty in categorizing my music. I think I am multi-genre. However, I think I fall into the categories of funk, jazz -rock, pop -rock, neo-rock. Different songs can fall under a different dominant genres. I think in this case, my song Brighter has pop-rock as a dominant genre.

Kate Magdalena
Kate Magdalena has an ability to move her listeners with her voice, to bring healing and joy. Her songwriting began through her poetry writing, and by setting a few poems to music, by great poets like WB Yeats and Robert Frost, and then in discovering a love of writing which came from her own heart.

The MookMann
The MookMann is a trap jazz artist and trap jazz is a combination of jazz soul and urban rap. When you put the sounds together you get a unique taste of pure originality. I like to reference it as ignorance meets class. I love to tell stories based off people lives and give solutions to their troubles as well as make ya shake ya groove.

Sophia Venn
Sophia Venn found me while promoting her new R&B, Soul song Life I Knew. A song describing life changes and how something can crash down on you and change the way of life and how you knew it but you have to stand tall step outside and breathe the fresh air to move on with a new life.

Who is Chay CEO?
There’s a shift in the air unlike any before it’s time. The fight for inclusion has led to statues falling, companies donating, and families picking sides on where they will stand on the grand stage of history. From the shadows of R&B and the crowd of “lil” rappers a new type of artist emerges that we may not have wanted, but surely needed…Chay CEO.
