Solar Plexus, Music And Me
Being somewhat of a self-proclaimed green witch, I have used herbs, spells and music to help soothe and calm my inner nerves and anxiety for many years. From the use of essential oils when a headache occurs to performing a spell to help me pass my exams as a teenager. In my adult years, however, I started to truly practice the art of meditation.

The Pulse of a Story: A Playlist
Circa 2010, I think every writer I knew made playlists to go along with their novel drafts. It was "the thing" to do at the time for writers (especially after Stephenie Meyer of Twilight fame made it a point to acknowledge her musical muses in the acknowledgements of all her books). I was nineteen, an aspiring writer with her head full of bits and bobs and fantastical fluff, and who was I to deny the allure of the beats to be found for my own stories?

Songs To Take A Bath To
My favorite way to unwind is by taking a long bath. There's nothing more luxuriating to me than soaking in a tub of hot water with bubbles, bath salts, a few drops of eucalyptus oil, my favorite facewash, a glass of wine, the works. I take this pastime very seriously, ending most days with the lights off, candles lit and music on.

To Ease Our Soul
You by Petit Biscuit, is an instrumental song that brings me to a better understanding of how music can influence my mood throughout my darkest of times and had used to belong to a “brings me peace” playlist I had created on Spotify. It truly brings me at peace with not just myself but for my situation. Even if for a second it’s still a second that I hadn’t felt something dangerous.

Did you know that Ed Sheeran started as a busker in London? It's true! Before becoming the global phenomenon we know today, young Ed Sheeran was one among hundreds of buskers who share their music every day in the great city of London.

The Playlist in My Head
I know most of you won't be in tune with my music choices. I listen to many different genres from Broadway to Old School 1970s Rock and Roll, Celtic to some Punk. I have some groups I won't listen to (don't even hint at putting a Pink Floyd song in my playlist unless there's no vocals. They do great instrumentals, but...I just can not abide the voices of the singers they choose. It also doesn't help that for ten years I had their music shoved down my throat by my then boyfriend.)

Chill The F*** Out!
I would describe myself as a playlist lover. I love creating my own playlists, I'm always creating playlists for my loved ones, and I get way too excited when I discover a great new playlist. I love playlists so much Spotify could probably hire me due to how much experience I have.

My Healing MRI Playlist
Recovering from multiple surgeries is stressful—and boring. I've got a couple more surgeries to go, probably... It's hard to relax when you're in pain. The normal Zen meditative playlists do nothing for me! Instrumentals don't work, either; whether they are classical or jazz. I've found I need songs with lyrics in order to distract my mind from the pain. Having to get multiple MRI's, the technician had a playlist that worked for me! Yay! I don't care that these aren't modern songs. All that matters is that I can close my eyes to these songs and let the music take me away. Here are my 12 favorite tunes I discovered while in the MRI machines, which continue to help me to calm down:

The Music in My Heart
Let me first start off by saying I listen to music with my soul. As an artist myself I can pick apart the beauty within the lyrics and can easily find a way for a song to be relatable in my life. I not only listen to music to bring joy into my life I also listen to see what I can hear that can relate to my life because I wanna be able to express what I cannot bring to words.
