I don't know about you, but I listen to music practically 24/7. I enjoy having a soundtrack to my day, something to keep my story driving on. Whether it be listening to "Sh Boom" while cooking pasta, the Mamma Mia soundtrack while speed-walking to class in the morning, or a classic Beatles tune while putting my laundry away, music plays a huge role in my life.

The 'List: 80s Movie Hits
Hello one and all. So, here we are! A "new" 'list. My buddy Calvin 'Oates' Cherry and I have been forthright about our passion for music and here is a new format now. In this 'list, we won't just profile artists of the 1980s, or any singular decade in one extended entry posting. This is a 'list that will now encompass artists, groups, and even musical genres of all decades and yes, even specific set years. Here's the first of the list that highlights a once popular staple of the Cabbage Patch Kid/ Rubik's Cube/ Pac-Man decade: The movie soundtrack.

George Glenn Jones: Hell Raiser. Country Music Advocate. Legend.
No country singer holds a legacy quite like George Jones. Born on September 12, 1931, in Saratoga, Texas, he was a significant country musician, singer, and songwriter. He reached international fame, with over 150 hit records to his name, including his signature song, "He Stopped Loving Her Today." With his unique tone and "jaw clenching" phrasing, he is frequently referred to as the greatest country singer—one who completely immersed himself in the lyrics he was delivering. Indeed, he is the one that "up-and-rising" country singers listen to and the ones of his generation did their best to imitate. But there was, and will only be, one George Glenn Jones.

One-Hitters Who Deserve a Second Listen
Hello, and welcome to another installment of Silver Linings , where I look at maligned stuff and find the positives. I watch a lot of web shows. One of my favorites is a pop music critic named Todd Nathanson, the guy you can (or rather can't) see in the pic above, who goes by the moniker of "Todd in the Shadows." Along with his pop song reviews and countdowns, he produces a side-series called One-Hit Wonderland where he looks at one-hit wonders, listens to the rest of their output, and determines if they deserved to be bigger than just one-hit wonders. To date, he's featured 61 artists. Some deserved more playtime, and some didn't even deserve their one hit.

Podcast Grooves
There is a difference between radio and podcasting. In radio, you have a license to play music by music artists. However, in podcasting, you are not allowed to play copyrighted music without permission. By permission, I was able to upload a few songs by artists with permission. You have to be sure that the artists own their own music and not their record company.
