He pressed his ear to the vase; he pressed it literally because he felt the rough surface against his ear. And, with some delicacy, he shook it up and down. Nothing. Not even a simple rattle. What if there's another message inside? A message in a bottle, very original. He placed it on the table. The inside of the vase was protected by a simple wooden stopper. Mariano held it by the neck and gripped the cork with the help of his index finger and thumb.

The package didn't seem strange at all. It was a simple cardboard box. Just like the previous one. The only difference was the logo from some kind of foreign sweets he had never seen or tasted in his life; normal, considering where it came from; Belgrade, Serbia. I wondered if I would win by entering into the mind of a drill sergeant dealing with new recruits and introducing them to their weapon. The language is very rough, as it has always been with military training. It is necessary for the mentality that the average soldier will need for facing combat and the possibility of death.
