Chapter 2: Elara from Goldkin Estate
Read Chapter 1 here: Chapter 2: As Elara stepped into her teenage years, the world around her began to blur. There was a feeling, a whisper in her heart that things were not as they seemed. To Bangkok and Back
Life is strange and confusing at times, and if you had asked me a year ago if I would be happy the answer would be hell no. Yet, here I am knowing joy once again. 2023 was one of the most difficult years of my life followed by some of the best moments of my life. I started 2023 off with a painful breakup, almost lost my mother to cancer again, and lost a good friend all in the month of January. With all that suffering I still managed to come out on top. I saw the beautiful northern lights, I took a job out in Guam, and ended up traveling to countries I had always wanted to see. I saw Mt. Fuji in Japan; I saw the beautiful temples of Thailand and met a wonderful woman. I saw the streets of Mumbai and the Parthenon in Athens only to return home and lose my grandma.

Love Means Letting Go
Years ago, I fell in love with a woman in Scotland on a pub crawl on my birthday. Back then I had no idea what love was nor do I now. It is complex, intricate and at times difficult to understand. However, I did know one thing for sure and that was my heart skipped a beat for the first time. I saw her from across the bar as she entered, and my heart recognized her immediately. She felt like a past love lost long ago, but I never forgot her. I gravitated towards her, and she felt larger than life, almost impossible to approach without butterflies in my stomach.

Rooted Resilience
This journey I'm on, it's a risky game, no doubt. Part one sailed smoothly, but the odds were more in my favor then. Part two? Well, that's anyone's guess, and I find myself performing for an audience that doesn't exactly have me on their list of favorites. Perhaps if they considered the long-term picture, things might be different, but alas, people rarely do. They say it's a team effort, easy to say when your roots are so firmly entrenched that uprooting seems impossible. I get it, I do. The captain plays for glory, and not everyone needs to shine for victory to be declared. But deep down, we all yearn to flourish, don't we? And here I am, laying low, hoping against hope that the spotlight might find me. If not, well, it's curtains for me.
