Fable
Dragon Business
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Once upon a time and not so long ago, Tranquil Valley was filled with lush trailing vines, laden with delicately scented blooms. Graceful towering trees gave shade to the tiny, brightly plumed songbirds. Iridescent butterflies shimmered in the air, and when the twin suns rose over the mountains, the sparkling waterfalls were nothing short of breathtaking. Travelers came from all corners of the Three Kingdoms to behold the beauty of Tranquil Valley, and the money they spent on food and ale, lodging and cunningly carved souvenirs kept all nine picturesque Villages of the Valley prosperous and content. Then one day Lars the Mariner came riding home over the pass, with a gift for his five year old daughter.

The Uloralie Plains
"There weren’t always dragons in the valley," Eothyn says gently, closing his eyes in thought. "My father – our father, told me so often and so fondly about his travels along what used to be called the Uloralie Plains." He points out through the trees and brush, giving way to a sheer drop off the mountainside the four friends are perched upon. They overlook onto pale green rolling hills and in the far, misty distance, remains a blackened site of ill repute. A line, in essence, a border, stretching easily from one side of the plains to the other and much further beyond.

Part One of Two: The Child learns to Yodel.
"There weren’t always dragons in the valley. That was what most people in the new settlement of Fonix thought." Oliver was curled up beside his Yaya, getting ready for a nap. After reading a story she told him to close his eyes and imagine what she was describing.

Kalderbloom
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Once upon a time, dragons were a rare sight in the small kingdom of Kalderbloom. They usually stayed nestled in their secluded caves atop the cliffsides of the towering mountains, mesas, and plateaus surrounding the locale. They only came maybe two, three times a year to scavenge for livestock or take a dip or drink in the rivers and lakes of the closed-off vale. It was a quieter, more peaceful time.
