The White Castle
Bella stepped out of the gilded golden carriage, which was drawn by a team of five majestic white Pegasus, onto a platform that could only have been made of clouds and magic. Grinning, she rushed through the towering gates, made of shimmering clouds, onto a gravel path that wound through the cloudy forest.

Peace of my Soul
My name is Ensign Eric Harden and today I am going to war. Today is the last day before I leave for Honolulu Hawaii for my first posting aboard the USS Arizona. There are others with me who are heading to the same place or somewhere like it but I do not know their names. I can see their faces and see the same facsimile of excitement and nervousness written across their features. Many are dressed like me in pressed blue and white; the uniform of a sailor. Some are wearing their government issued hats as instructed and some are worn cocked to the side as a testament to the young man's bravado possessed by many.

A Terrible Knight
Schlap. Schlap. Schlap. Dozens of grimy feet slapped through the abandoned warehouse, kicking up dirt and guck. Incomprehensible, angry chitter filled the air, bouncing off the rickety walls. Little green and gray heads with large, pointed ears began to pop up from seemingly nowhere, to welcome home their families, and see what all the fuss was about. Goblins rushed through the warehouse, baring their yellow, saliva-covered teeth in angry defeat. One small goblin, with rough gray skin and little wisps of white hair ran up to another, tugging on the ripped and stained tunic she adorned.

All Because of a Silver Locket
All Because of a Silver Locket Trapped in my own little world, as I laid asleep in my bed dreaming of a beautiful world full of love, happiness, and freedom. I imagined my wings unfolding and taking flight in the beautiful sky. The birds were so graceful, you wouldn’t think they were real animals. Then suddenly the skies filled with dark, angry clouds, and all of the birds disappeared. I awakened to the all too familiar snipping sound of the surgeon pinioning my wings. Fear filled my entire body to the tips of my wings. Before I could stop it, I was falling endlessly into the dark abyss. The clouds thundered loudly and lightning so close I was sure I would be stuck.

Between the Mountains & Mayhem
Drops of sweat slid down Axis’s face as she maneuvered her arms and legs. Careful of every step. Every potential mark of evidence. The wind ruffled her hair as the first rays of daylight heated her skin and cast the unsteady terrain in golden tones. Temperatures already climbing.

Eve
Evelina Sanchez blinked her ice blue eyes open and groaned as a loud musical alarm blared. Her head hurt from contraband bottles of champagne and too much reckless behavior for a Wednesday night. She reached for her pillow and pulled it down over head, the weight of the soft, dense down soothing against her throbbing temples, dampening the noise. The sun shone through the wide-open window, creating floating shadows of leaves and tracing patterns of light to dark across the floor. A breeze blew inside, gently fluttering the sheer white curtains.

Void
There was a time, all but forgotten now, when the world was dominated by technology. The people relied on these advanced devices for everything from health to transportation to entertainment. A weapon that could take away this power of the people would have meant the destruction of their world. But, the very thing that led to their advancement as a civilization was also what was destroying the world they lived in. Poison was released into the atmosphere daily because of these devices. Eventually, the land they thrived on would no longer be there to support them, so the human race adapted.

The Ruby Locket
The Ruby Locket Gina was at a loose end, at fifteen years of age the fact that her best friend Lara had gone off for a drive with her boyfriend instead of walking with her as planned, was annoying in the extreme and so, totally bored, she walked off down the lane to the river, kicking pebbles as she went. She loved the untouched wildness of the river’s banks and the wide areas that carried the winter floods.
