Ukrainian Strikes Inside Russia and the Putin Controversy
Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Ukrainian Strikes Inside Russia and the Putin Controversy In late December 2025, tension rose once more in the long-running Russia-Ukraine war after Russia claimed that Ukrainian forces had carried out a drone attack targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region of Russia. Flash Fiction - Lanterns
“I don’t understand, Grandpa. Can you tell me again?” The old man sighed heavily. He turned to look out the window, which was coated by a layer of winter frost. It was still early, but the darkness had already crept in, adding dark edges to the ice on the window. “It’s an offering, boy.”

-------- Author's Note ------- Before going any further, I would like to give a quick heads up. I'm trying something a little different with this story. In the past I've lost momentum writing longer pieces. But, this is a story I've had brewing since 2018 and I think in order to get it out there, I'm going to release it in chunks. I'm not sure how many we'll end up with but what you're about to read is a mystery/thriller set in the same town as a previous story I wrote, "Blue Heron Creek". Thank you for giving this a read and... be careful when you check into Mercy Regional Hospital... The morgue doesn't have the only thing rotten...

Syncope
The clinic looked like nothing. It had no windows, no signage, and no presence except the faint antiseptic tang that clung to your skin even after leaving. The walls inside glowed with a colorless intensity that didn’t register as light so much as pressure.
