The Beauty Of Life
There it was, just like I remembered. A beautiful, open field. At dusk, this place was absolutely stunning. It held bad memories though. This was where I brought my boyfriend when I was going to propose. This is the place that my entire life changed, and it definitely was a good change in the end.

White Palms, Pure Love
Uncle Gerry has white palms like the color of cotton. But his complexion is not pallid. Kids like me have white palms too. I mean, all of us have white palms until adolescence or until we get a crush on some pretty girls. By then our palms would become orange like the tangerine sky of twilight. My parents’ palms have been green like a virgin forest since my birth. They had been white before they got acquainted, turned orange in the first few months of father’s courtship with mother, and then turned red when they got engaged and eventually tied the knot.

She Floats
She floated on the wooden boat. Rags torn from garments plugged the holes that threatened to take her under. The sky was peach, and the mist made it look fuzzy. But it was not sweet and juicy. On an island in the near distance, was the barn. It sat on its own little island, ostentatiously, lording over the rocks and the murky waters. It could have been a castle had it been made of stone. Instead, the wooden boards pulled down on themselves, as if trying to wrestle the support beams to the ground. The pride of the whitewashed edifice was what stood out as regal. It wouldn’t let itself fall. It would stand for a thousand more years.

A Pear For a Pair
”Grab THAT pear; it looks perfect!” I was standing on a picnic table in the campus courtyard. A pear tree hung overhead, and Liz McIntosh had pointed out her perfect pear for us to share. I diligently possibly bucked campus decorum and did pluck the luscious piece of fruit. Liz nodded her appreciation and took a seat as I split the pear in half. There WAS something slightly romantic about splitting a single pear between us.

For What Ails You
Ava stared blankly at the single green light that flashed in a steady rhythm on the bedside clock. 3:45 am. Better than 1 am. She thought to herself as she adjusted her position, removing the weight of the heavy arm that was draped over her waist. Once free, she gently rose from the bed, careful not to wake her companion, snoring soundly beside her.
