The Hike. Top Story - September 2023.
The morning sun painted the sky with inviting hues of pink and gold as he pulled into a little dirt lot on the side of a gravel road. He had been looking forward to getting away all week, and after a moderate amount of online research he landed on this trail, about 90 minutes outside the city. The trail promised a sense of tranquility that he yearned for, and was lacking, in his busier life near the city life. Now that he was parked in the, he took in his surroundings, along with deep satisfying breaths full of all-natural, organic air. He laced up his new shoes, which were technically meant for “trail running,” but that he mostly used for leisurely hikes like this one. The sun was warm and the sweat was already beginning to mingle with his banana-scented sunscreen. He noticed that his car was the only one in the lot except for an old beat up pickup truck that looked more permanently abandoned there than waiting for its owners to arrive later that day.

The day was cold and dewy, but my body felt hot. The more I ran, the hotter I got. Looking back and seeing someone chasing you down with everything they have is scarier than any horror movie. "Come here, you think you're low" they yell, but I keep running searching for a store or something to run into. I can't help but think about how this guy is going to send me to the ER or the morgue if he catches me. If my life was a book they would have to ban it in every fucking country "shit". I bust a right into the deli I always go to hoping the ock can show at least a little bit of love but that was immediately crushed when the ock ran straight into the back and locked the door probably rushing to call the police. While I'm stuck holding this door closed because this want-to-be hulk is kicking it in with all the might they could fester. "Open up the door pussy, I'm really going to jail today. Yo open up the door!!!!!!". In my head I screamed "Oh, he really going to kill me" so I had to start planning how I could put him out and not go to jail or die. I remember the X2 J gave me, ok ok I know my knowledge of explosive laws is not in-depth but I do know my self of defense laws and even I know that if someone tries to kill you and you genuinely fear for your life you have all rights to kill them so.... I clicked the activator and threw the X2 through a crack in the door blowing them and two parked vehicles to the high heavens leaving nothing but smoke in the air and a red mist all over the area. The blast threw me to the back of the deli, causing me to crash through a fridge door hitting bags of ice. I have never in my life heard the city get that quiet in my life it was almost a life-changing moment, but I realized that I just committed an act of domestic terrorism in one of the most over-policed cities in the ###.
