"I can't do it.'

Emma stood at the top of the plunge, knowing that this was a defining moment of her life. To leap or not to leap? She was attached to the world by a piece of elastic, faced with an abyss below her and a potentially disappointed partner beside her.

Surprise birthday presents were certainly not all they were cracked up to be. How dare he put her in this position, she thought, as fear threatened to engulf her.

"Do it for me, Emma!" he cried.

Anger replaced fear.

"Fuck you!" she shouted and stepped into the unknown.
