In The Year 2125

Tomorrow's utopia, or is it?

The world as we knew it one hundred years ago is gone

Scientists and environmentalists spoke about the world going wrong

Many, many inventions were made to solve problems, and many a song

was sung about the future and how lucky they will be, and about the dawn

of a new world, better than the world 100 years before. It was all a con!

~

Beautiful structures were everywhere. So many modern-day advances that reminded me every bit like the reruns of the Jetsons I watched on television so many years ago. We had cars that could fly through the air and land on our patio deck.

We had so many modern conveniences. Everyone looked exactly like Hollywood actors and actresses. Or models. Children were grown and birthed outside of the mother. We live for 200 plus years now. We live in sterile quarters because we have to.

We are vulnerable to the viruses that are alive and well, and without sterilization, you don't live long with the newest strain of virus, and there is always a new strain. The scientists working with the virus are almost all gone now.

The artificial intelligence was sabotaged, and very little of that technology is alive. We are struggling.

Now the good news. Our diet is fresh, everything. Grown onboard in greenhouses. A well-balanced diet allows us to live for what seems like forever. We all have routines for daily exercise. Everyone does it. It is Jack Lalaine the 5th who developed the daily practice.

There are people in space and people on board this ship. The photo was taken during the night. We have the escalators back as our hover platforms broke down one by one, and we had no mechanics to repair them. It wasn't necessary to train mechanics with AI and YouTube available for repairs.

Both are gone now. YouTube was bought and destroyed. We are told there is a group of people working to build up the land once more. They want off the ships. They found a small island that they wish to grow into a new continent.

This is a photo of my hometown 50 years ago. Shortly before the island sank into the sea. It went from a bustling hub to a ghost town in a matter of hours.

Just the other day, we were reminiscing about the old days. I told my children, grands, and my wife, "Just as long as we are together, it doesn't matter where we live. We can stay on the ship or wait until more land bases are developed to move.

And it is alright with me if we never move. I will be content to live here for the rest of my life. My choice is not to stress.

No more stress

What a mess

Time to dress

I can guess

how long until a yes

that we can move onto land

No need to fight or take a stand

It is time we band

together and not demand

a place, or we may be left alone and

not be allowed to leave together

We have all we need here, and whether

we like it or not, we are safe altogether.

When we first boarded, we were free to do as we would. It didn't take long until our comings and goings were all monitored. We were to spend several hours each day at work contributing to the benefit of all. That is still how we live now, many years later.

We have gotten into the experience of going along, not complaining. Security and law enforcement are both fairly harsh. We don't fool with them or they with us.

Just the other day, we got a glimpse of the land under development. It is beautiful. I could go back to the basics of life. I lived that way once, a long time ago. A time when we counted on trees to breathe, house, and feed us. Then there were all the living things in that ecosystem, which all worked together.

Why was that so hard to understand way back when? Well, enough of that kind of thinking. Time has moved on, and so have we. We are still alive and well for now.

Alive and well

Isn't that swell

Time to move on

Maybe eat a bonbon

Sappy my thoughts

Enough of these plots!

Scratch all of the above! How about in the year 2525? I remember that song. If man is still alive? What about that for a plot? I think not! If I can remember that song, then so will others.

Can women survive?

Maybe there will be only women

and children with no men

The song that will play will be

In the year 3535

with only women alive

I could deal with that

Leaving behind the brat.

Not really, I couldn't do that!

Okay, next

what about pretext

Pretext, concealment, what should we try to conceal? Our reality is that we don't want to deal with the truth, so we make it up as we go. We don't wish to feel the truth as it will hurt too much. We are wrecking our planet Earth, and where will we go or what will happen to our future?

What will happen to our children's future, and all future generations? When I say water is life, I mean that. Saving the water is imperative. Drinking water from lakes and streams happened not that long ago, then there was well water, now that is all filtered and bottled. What will 2125 bring?

I would like to sing a song of strength and vitality for all. To show growth and a planet that respects Mother Earth, Father Sky, all four directions, and all living things. Would we be here if there were no purpose?

We can look into the future as it is happening today. That is the plot. Use your imagination to come up with what you think. We can stay in the reality of what time will bring, or we can make up some Pollyannaish time similar to the Jetsons' cartoon.

What will it be?

Nicely done, Denise. You have raised some really interesting points and touched on some controversial topics, but in a really non-confrontational way. I often wonder what the world will be like in 20 or 30 years, but then give up because I won't be here, and it makes your head hurt.

  • Oh wow, a world with only women and no men. I've read somewhere that if that happens, we won't have wars but we'll have a bunch of countries not talking to each other 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Loved your story!
