Mother Of The Trees
Have you ever wandered through the underpass, from Washington Hospital Center, and entered Wangari Gardens? Have you ever looked at the community garden, the youth garden and the outdoor classroom and wondered: who is the woman who inspired all of this? Who was the woman who inspired these bee hives, this public fruit tree orchard and these vegetable gardens?

Do you know a Killer?
Jeffrey Dahmer. Ted Bundy. John Wayne Gacy. Jack the Ripper. They are all serial killers, but they are not psychotic. Far too often, people misinterpret a sociopath or psychopath and someone who has a psychotic disorder (Schizophrenia). Although the mental health stigma has decreased in certain aspects, there are still some components that are difficult for those outside of the field to understand. This may not be a typical “fun fact,” but profiling and understanding the psyche is always fascinating.

DARKSIDE of FACEBOOK
Everything That Glitters Isn't Gold "We’re doing a great job of 'canceling' the master of leverage. That’s how Zuckerberg REALLY became wealthy and worth $101B. Facebook/Twitter may be the champion of ‘Cancel Culture’, but it’s in our power to 'cancel' our dependency of those platforms. I'm a man of integrity; so with me, it’s not about having something to hide. It’s about a business and its CEO's lack of integrity. Facebook has been selling our 'browsing history', 'interests', 'I. P. Addresses', 'Network of Family', and every website you're able to log into by clicking 'LOG-IN WITH YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT' — He's been doing it without our consent. I don't take that lightly. There's a difference between CUSTOMIZING YOUR BROWSING EXPERIENCE and SELLING YOUR USERS BROWSING EXPERIENCE TO A BACKGROUND ENTITY THAT BECOMES THE ALL-SEEING-EYE." - R. L. Laster

Chasing Ducks
Salmon P. Chase stared back at me. Smug. Chase was President Lincoln’s Secretary of the Treasury. He was responsible for issuing the first federal paper currency, which helped the Union maintain its financial status during the Civil War. To boost his own presidential ambitions, he made sure it was his face on several denominations of bills, including the $1. Chase Bank takes its name from him, and his face was printed on the 1918 issuance of the $10,000 bill.

Sterilizing Trans Folx
Sterilization on the trans/non binary/non-conforming/non cis and many more identity(ies) is an issue rarely talked about. We live in a culture that was created through the visionaries of white supremacists. Part of white supremacy is transphobia. We live in a transphobic culture so deeply rooted in our systems and ourselves that we are so unaware of all the violence we engage in to our trans siblings and ourselves.

To Survive on $2000
When Daryl and I decided to get married, the first concern on our mind wasn't where to have it or when. It was if we should actually get married. You see at the time I couldn't remember if my type of disability was SSI (Supplemental Security Income) or SSDI (Social Security Disability Income). You'd think everyone with a disability would be in the latter, but that's not the case.

What's the problem with palm oil?
The other day while surfing the web I came across a comment warning people about palm oil in their vegan food staple alternatives. I went to my fridge and checked a few of my dairy-free alternatives to find that sure enough, my Becel vegan margarine used 6% palm oil. I was glad to see that my other products were seemingly safe from the “palm oil travesties”, but it makes you wonder – what other ingredients in these products could be harmful to the environment and to human rights? These vegan products are seen as being healthier and safer alternatives, but after some research, I began to question “If it has palm oil in it, is it really better than its dairy equivalent?”.
