The Art of Fanfiction
Have you ever finished a movie or read a book and felt as if there could have been more? Will the creator ever add to the work, you wonder? Sadly, creators decide to end where they please, but for you, the story will always be incomplete—unless you add more by writing your own take, and then sharing it with other fans. That’s fanfiction. For me fanfiction is both a unique form of writing and the way I developed my own ongoing skills. The literary form known as fanfiction is centered around any kind of published, original work inspired by previously existing books, films, TV shows, music and even tales of celebrity life. This pre-existing work is then reinterpreted or expanded by those who value it. In our technological era, fanfiction has become a popular internet craze. Critics and accomplished writers believe that, for developing writers, fanfiction is a wonderful way to gain training wheels into the world of writing, as author Neil Gaiman remarks. I believe that fanfiction should be considered an important writing form, as it tests writers’ imaginations and challenges them to practice creative writing without having to worry about being published in the traditional way.

Before we start, a quick disclaimer: This isn't meant to be hate-filled or confrontational in any way. By following these tips, I hope to help you become a better writer.

Another Side to the Story
That tart, Guinevere. Her friends called her Gwen. I don’t see how she was a Gwen, or a Gwynne for that matter. I wound up bearing a child that no woman should because I wound up under my own brother at a masquerade party. There were no contraceptives then. There were no abortions either. Morgaine, Morgana and I tolerated the little weasel until he was old enough to be on his own and then threw his lot in with that little Wiccan. We were Pagan, thank you.

News Boy Romance
I was with the boys we were selling papers, and it was hot as hell outside. I was with Race, Jack, and Davey. We all had the same selling spot so we sold papers in our part of town. I was upset that I couldn’t get as many of my papers sold like everyone else, I was about average when it came to selling papers, I wasn’t as good at improving the truth like my cousin Jack, Davey said I didn’t need to lie to sell papers, just say the headlines and I’d get my papers sold. I was thinking about lying a few times, but Davey talked me out of it each time. But Jack, he’d never stop screwing with people’s heads, especially the rest of us.

The Immortal Fury Road
As Max shared a respectful glance with Furiosa and Immortal Joe’s prized breeders before blending into the crowd and again departing for parts unknown the thought of “who killed the world?” began to come to a close. In a world that has been long forgotten from the days of technology. Where road warriors roamed the blood covered sand for supplies and water off of those dead or alive. Ferocious riders of industrial vehicles with metallic bits and fixtures constantly fixated on the ideas of salvation in the afterlife. Thousands of lost souls cheer and cry over the new ruler of the saturate supply. For what seemed like decades, killing for guzzoline was all the citizens of the Fury Road Wasteland required. From the Gastown to the Bullet Farm, from Green Place, all the way to the Citadel, Max had only known one thing, survival. It was Max’s one true instinct in the wasteland now.
