But before that, Esmeralda was just a little girl when she realized that she and her family were not like the other people in Paris. After all, they were gypsies. Life was destined to be hard for her. She knew that, and accepted it. Because, what else was she going to do, fight it? It would be a losing battle. That didn’t stop her from enjoying herself whenever she decided to mess with the soldiers every once in a while. One of her favorite pastimes were dancing in front of them, while her friends would pick their pockets. It was hilarious! Despite the label of “gypsy” that she’d been given by those who judged her unfairly, she had lived her whole life in Paris. Or that’s how it seemed. When she was six years old, she and her mother had traveled to Paris through the catacombs underground. But that seemed like a lifetime ago now! She doesn’t even remember where she came from anymore. There was very little that she could remember from her time before her life in Paris.

My name is percy, short for Perseus, I had stopped the world from ending several times since i was twelve. I have a lot of titles, like these; 'the son of Poseidon, bane of monsters, slayer of the minotaur, navigator of the labyrinth, owner of the Achilles curse, destroyer of titans, one of the great seven, survivor of Tartarus, defeater of yahda yahda' I think you get the the point, lots of names. Anyways, the reason im so pissed off is that my beach date got completely ruined by the attention seeking gods, and is now making me complain like some preppy girl.

Just now, I almost started this by talking about how I was once a kid with hopes and dreams and things just didn’t work out and I turned to crime. I could slap myself, what an idiot. Anytime an ex-con or a thug or a henchman gets a chance to tell their story, they slop around some mess about how they once were wide-eyed, innocent little kids who looked up at the stars and had big notions about what the world was, they were slightly more perceptive and special than the people around them, but all the same things went wrong in the end, oh woe is them. Boo-hooing for their lost path and how things didn’t work out too great. The ol’ leg-breaker with a heart of gold and the world let me down routine. Shut the hell up already. We all thought we’d be superheroes when we were kids.
